Highlights
  • Pompeii Archaeological Park - Pompeii was an ancient Roman city near modern Naples in the Campania region of Italy, in the territory of the comune of Pompei. Pompeii, along with Herculaneum and many villas in the surrounding area (e.g. at Boscoreale, Stabiae), was buried under 4 to 6 m (13 to 20 ft) of volcanic ash and pumice in the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79. Volcanic ash typically buried inhabitants who did not escape the lethal effects of the earthquake and eruption.

Fantastic - We had a fantastic time on this tour. We felt the time spent into the Pompeii ruins was more than enough because it's so hot. There are water refill spots, but come with a full water bottle. Marco our tour cordinator was hilarious. Our Pompeii guide was a wealth of knowledge. The only thing we weren't impressed with was the cafe at the bathroom rest stop is disgustingly over priced. 8 euro for 1 croissant is ridiculous. I recommend bringing your own snacks that you can eat outside the bus in the shade. Or some people walked down the street a little ways and at least found more reasonably priced drinks. There were USB charging outlets on the bus.

Ruins guide Sasha was fantasticio - 5 out of 5. The start was early and we didn’t get picked up from our hotel despite being stated : our fault as we only advised them 14 hour before not 24.. The tour guide on the bus, Marco, was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Spoke three languages for our audience. The trip was delayed to a serious accident on the motorway. Our driver Franko was a safe driver. The highlight was the ruins and our guide Sasha was incredible and was very strategic in guiding us around. His sense of humour was infectious. Really enjoyed the tour. Lunch was uninspiring.

Amazing Pompeii - The incredible impact that it has when you view the extent of the ruins. The history and the stories of the people who were living and and functioning within this massive area was amazing .The our guide and the tour was well organised, from hotel pick up to drop off. A not to be missed day tour.

Total tourist trap — avoid this trip! - Avoid this trip at all costs! What a tourist trap!!! I signed up for a 9 hour trip and ended up spending 12-13 hours. The bus did not have a bathroom so they stopped at the half way point for 30-35 minutes each way so you could visit a cafe and use the bathrooms, if needed. We then drove thru Naples and only got out of the bus once for two minutes to take a picture. After the entire morning wasted with travel, we had a 2-hour pizza lunch which was followed by a visit to another tourist trap to get you to buy cameos (carvings in shells). We then finally walked thru the Pompeii ruins — in peak sun given all the delays! And we then got back on the bus for the over 3 hour trip (again a stop halfway for the bathroom!). Finally the guide was not an archeological expert — very superficial knowledge. And the guides kept losing people in the group. What a disappointment. Take the high speed train and do it on your own with an audio guide - will be cheaper and much more informative!
