Best Pompeii tour! - Vincenzo was an amazing host! Very knowledgeable, PHD, blending facts with humour at the best moments. Everything went so smoothly and I highly recommend this method of exploring Pompeii. The wine tasting and lunch at the end was perfect! Hilarious that we all started talking loudly and engaging each other in conversation once we started consuming all of the wine 😅

A Fantastic Day Trip - We had an excellent tour guide that helped us arrive at Pompeii seamlessly. Then we enjoyed walking around Pompeii on our own for five hours before meeting up with our group to return to Rome. We were glad we brought an umbrella to help give some shade to a hot yet breezy day. There are so many discoveries to be made in Pompeii. The walk can be challenging as the old roads are not necessarily smooth and you get distracted looking around at all of the sights. I'm sure I could find new things each time I would visit. Amazing!

Amazing Self-Paced Exploration - Everything went smoothly, and the guide ensured that everyone was kept together. The weather was extremely hot, but there was plenty of time built-in to get refreshments throughout the day. We chose this trip so that we could explore Pompeii at our own pace and to take breaks as we needed. It would have been helpful to get a map of the site, and make sure to note which entrance of the site you take, as that is where you will exit. (there are 3 entrances/exits). Thankfully Google Maps was available to help us.

Quick and Easy day trip to Pompeii - This was a quick and easy way to visit Pompeii for the day. We were not interested in a guided tour but not comfortable finding our own way to Pompeii. The guide was very helpful getting us on our train to Naples (1hr10min) and short bus ride (35min). We had plenty of time in Pompeii. This was an easy day trip without riding in a car or bus for 6-7 hrs round trip. Highly recommend.

The trip to Pompeii was... - The trip to Pompeii was absolutely worth it. Exploring the ruins on your own gives you the freedom to take it all in at your own pace, and there’s so much to see that self guiding is actually the best way to go. Also a little hint, there’s free water fountains around Pompeii. Mostly on the main walking areas and few off the beaten path. Which comes in handy when your walking a lot and get thirsty. So bring a water bottle or two so you can fill up. An enjoy the site. The tour guide, in this case Carlos, primarily helps with logistics getting you on the right train, then onto the bus, and helping you bypass the lines at the entrance. He also escorts the group to a nearby restaurant for lunch, which costs €18 per person if you eat at the spot right next to the ruins. Honestly, the food was pretty good, so no complaints there. After lunch, it’s back on the bus, then the train, and finally a smooth return to Rome. All in all, I’d recommend this trip, especially if you want the convenience of transportation and tickets taken care of. Carlos did a great job keeping everything on track and stress free.

Private tour made our travel journey stress free and filled with incredible memories! - We were so blessed to be able to use ItaliaTours to develop a private tour for us, including assisting us at the train station in Rome, picking us up at the train station in Naples, transporting us to Pompeii, and Herculaneum, with final delivery to our hotel in Amalfi. They used a top notch crew, including the driver and the guide. Lunch was amazing at the restaurant near Pompeii and provide us with a chance to relax before the tour. Our guide (Ira) had an educational background in antiquities, and was filled with information regarding the important historical relics from these two ancient cities. We would definitely use ItaliaTours again. Their staff communicated efficiently and effectively, helping me feel confident in the plans that were designed specifically for my family of four. Excellent!

reservation cancelled without warning - The amount of the reservation was to be charged automatically the day before the excursion. However we made the choice to pay a few days before. During this operation, our reservation was cancelled without warning on the pretext that the debit was impossible with the credit card indicated (without offering to pay with another card!). This was totally wrong as we were able to book urgently with another provider using the same credit card. This change of reservation would have been impossible if we had waited for the pickup. We therefore assume a practice of overbooking which means that when the excursion is complete, Italia Tours manages to cancel the extra bookings on the pretext of an impossible payment. But because they wait until the last moment, this makes it difficult or impossible to transfer to another provider.
