sorrento/Pompei - Everything was great, Marco is a great guide and chiro is a great driver. I really enjoyed Sorrento, it might be worth it to go more time there, but still it was nice to visit.

Travel to Sorrento and Pompeii - The visit to Pompeii was spectacular, the guide Fabiano is an archaeologist and gave us all kinds of information.
The trip to Sorrento is very pleasant, it is only a pity that you stay very little time. But it is worth the excursion because the landscapes are magnificent and for those who do not have much time you will see a lot in a single day.
Take the hat off the driver, because driving on those roads is not easy. The guide was also friendly.

Too much bus time. - Pompeii was interesting. The only thing that was disappointing was there was a lot of traffic so our time in Sorrento was cut short. It was a lot of time on the bus for the amount of time off.

Unforgettable - Packed with activities, The day went amazingly well.
Visiting the coas was our favourite. The only challenge was trying to fit all the shopping. The deep in the prestine blue waters and getting a decent lunch in 2 hours was not possible .

Long excursion for short experience - Bus ride had two unnecessary sales stops that made travel time longer than it should have been. Things were pointed out but not explained. Bad restaurant recommendation in Sorrento. Too short a stay in Sorrento. Would rather skip the two sales stops and have more time there. Pompeii was amazing and we had ample time. Would have been nice to have a map with basic information about the site. Also would’ve liked to have gone to Pompeii first since it was a lot hotter later in the day than Sorrento and very little shade.

50% satisfied - Pompeii was every interesting. I enjoyed the guide's telling of the story & history. The trip to Sorrento was not worth the value & time for the taste of lemoncello.

Snyted for a good experience - Too much bus drive.
Why did we go to Sorrento?
We didn't see the city.
Was it because we had to put some guests out here??
Limomcellos taste was to laugh!!!
The bottom of the glass was barely covered.
We were asked to eat at a certain restaurant, here we could not get pizza, even though it was on the menu tab!!
Pompeii was exciting, but all too short!!!!
The last part of the tour was rushed through because we had to return to the bus.
We didn't even see the exhibition, and we rushed through the store.
We just got to buy an ice cream, which we ate walking on the way to the bus.
Both guides Marco and Sascha were really good, so no complaints of them!!!
But the composition of the tour was really poor.
The price was at the top, 3315 kr for four people.

A Complete Disaster — Avoid This Tour at All Costs - I rarely write reviews, but this experience was so profoundly disappointing and misleading that I feel compelled to warn other travelers and hold the agency accountable. I purchased this tour as a gift for my partner and her father, expecting a memorable day between Rome, Sorrento, and Pompeii. Instead, it turned into a frustrating and upsetting ordeal that ruined what should have been a special occasion.
1) The Sorrento “Experience” (or better said, shopping trap)
The description promised “a 2-hour visit in Sorrento with Limoncello tasting & free time.” What actually happened could not be further from that promise.
The driver and guide were more focused on dropping off some people at their hotel and forcing the group to eat at a particular restaurant than on delivering the tour.
My family does not drink alcohol, so they politely declined the Limoncello tasting. Instead of being respected, they were pressured repeatedly to buy products in shops “recommended” by the tour.
The entire stop was limited to a commercial shopping area, with no cultural or scenic highlights of Sorrento. There was no true sightseeing, just aggressive sales pressure.
What should have been free time to explore a beautiful coastal town turned into a pushy shopping scheme.
This was misleading, disrespectful, and frankly, a scam disguised as a tour stop.
2) Pompeii — a rushed and incomplete shadow of what was promised
The highlight of this tour was supposed to be Pompeii: “A guided 2-hour visit with skip-the-line access, expert explanations, and time to explore key ruins at your own pace.” What actually happened was unacceptable.
Before even entering Pompeii, the group was taken to yet another store (this time a coral jewelry shop), where they were once again pressured to purchase expensive items. This wasted precious time.
Despite the tour including skip-the-line tickets, my family was left standing under the scorching sun (35°C / 95°F) for an extended period, uncertain if they would even be allowed to enter. The staff even told them they might not get in, which is outrageous given that tickets were supposedly pre-arranged.
When they finally entered, the guided tour lasted less than one hour — far from the two hours clearly advertised. The guide rushed through explanations, leaving no time for immersion or appreciation.
Fundamental landmarks such as the Forum of Pompeii and the Centaur statue were completely skipped. These are central elements of the site, and missing them is inexcusable.
There was no “ample time to explore at your own pace” as promised. Instead, it was a pressured, hurried experience that stripped away the wonder and historical depth of Pompeii.
This was not only disappointing, it was dishonest.
Overall Impression
This was marketed as a premium cultural experience, but in reality, it was a tourist trap filled with forced shopping stops, broken promises, and poor organization. Instead of providing historical insight, respect for travelers’ time, and access to iconic sites, it delivered frustration, wasted hours, and blatant disregard for customer satisfaction.
I am deeply disappointed — not only because the experience was ruined, but because I trusted Viator to deliver what they sold. This was a gift for family, meant to create a beautiful memory, and instead it became a source of stress and regret.
Final Warning
Travelers, beware. Do not book this tour. You will not get what is promised. Instead of seeing Sorrento and Pompeii properly, you will be dragged into shops, pressured to buy overpriced goods, and rushed through one of the most important archaeological sites in the world.
Viator and its partners must take responsibility for this kind of unethical practice. If tours like this continue, it damages not only the company’s reputation but also the trust of every traveler who expects authenticity and professionalism.
Avoid this tour at all costs. Spend your money elsewhere, and give yourself the chance to truly experience Sorrento and Pompeii as they deserve.

Bad Sorrento/Pompeii tour experience - Poor customer service. - Putting a trip to two beautiful places in a short period of time is as insane as going through a fast food drive-through you have a Michelin star dinner experience.
Be aware that the trip to Sorrento portion of this experience is nothing more than a quick pass-through. we were late arriving into Sorrento and instead of allowing us the two hours mentioned in the brochure we basically got off the bus, walked 5-8 minutes to the center of town, which meant walking back those same 5-8 minutes in a very short 71 minutes of time we're supposed to see this beautiful city, grab a lunch, do a little shopping and return to the bus.. In my opinion, it would be better for you to take the train from Rome to Sorrento, a quick trip, and use a tour book to maneuver around Sorrento.
This was my first experience with Viator Tours. I went on the recommendation of several friends who travel the world and have had seemingly great experiences. I did not and it will be my last with them.
When I questioned the guide about the "rushed experience" in Sorrento the tour guide used the excuse of unknown circumstances, including heavy traffic as an excuse literally making it my problem and not theirs to deal with. The exact same thing happened at the end of the Pompeii experience, making the experience once again feel rushed. The actual Pompeii tour experience was a beautiful tour of the Pompeii ruins so I probably should have given this to a two star rating.
After spending nearly 2 hours, trying to contact someone from the tour company and finally reaching a person, I requested a partial refund for the Sorrento part of the trip. In the end, I was refunded 10% of what I paid so apparently the people on the other end of the phone did not understand or did not care about how horrible that half of the trip was.
I feel badly for the other tourists on this tour who are all talking about the same thing yet I'm sure that none of them took the time to their opinions outside of their circle of family and friends.
The entire experience was negative and very rushed, and disappointedly I would not use this company again. If you are looking for kind, caring customer service, you probably should look elsewhere.
And, by the way, that free limoncello experience was nothing more than a hoax. In fact, during the few minutes I spend in Sorrento, I enjoyed a limoncello tasting with proprietor, who told beautiful stories of her family business making a trip somewhat worth it.

You are better off taking the train from Rome on your own - If possible, pick a different tour. The guide hardly spoke during the three hour drive to Sorrento which is where we went first. While the views en route to Sorrento were beautiful, before we got to Sorrento, we stopped for coffee at a hotel en route. The croissants were nasty, the cappuccino was mostly foam, the ham and cheese sandwich was two big pieces of bread and hardly any meat (and caused me a stomach ache) and the price for that trash was ridiculous. Also, please be advised there's a charge to use the toilet. I wonder if they get a commission to steer tourists to this place. Once in Sorrento, the lemoncello was not complimentary of the tour but of the establishment itself and was never even offered to us. We had to buy our own. They steered us to a restaurant in Sorrento (Il Convivio Restorante Pizzeria) where they clearly were not prepared to receive our size crowd and we didn’t get our food until it was almost time to go. We canceled it but they forcefully insisted we take it and at the end charged for everything on top of a drink we had walked in with (that we bought at limoncello place). That was it!! No free time in Sorrento. We weren't taken to the town. You’re better off taking the train from Rome and going at your own leisure.
