Marco was an excellent... - Marco was an excellent guide. Long trip, but worth it. Thoroughly recommend. Sorento is beautiful and Pompeii was fascinating.

The experience was... - The experience was absolutely wonderful. Pompeii and Sorrento are two destinations worth visiting. We must emphasize that the experience was not the same without the extraordinary guides who lead it. In our case Mara de Grey Line, whom we thank for the care, dedication, kindness and special treatment. Likewise, Fabiano our guide in Pompeii, who was absolutely wonderful. Even our driver Marco was impeccable in his work. Thank you so much! 100% recommended!

Sorrento/Pompeii - It’s a nice way to see Sorrento and Pompeii in one day when staying in Rome. The Pompeii walking tour was very good.

Historical and very enjoyable - Really enjoyed the tour, the insights about the ruins in Pompei were invaluable. Bruce was our local guide, and he was great. Explaining the history, the geography, and culture of the day. The communication from GrayLine was ok, but could have been better. The limoncello tasting was a waste of time, gap filler. Better advice about timelines too. We arrived back in Rome 8:30pm, which was later than expected.

Disrespect for Portuguese language - They sold a guided tour in Portuguese, but did not comply, because they joined us to a group of Spanish speaking, where the guide spoke, sometimes, a portunhol of the worst quality, in the part dedicated to Pompeii. In the section of Sorrento, the guide Enrico respected the customers by speaking Portuguese, Spanish and English equally. Unfortunately, in the most complex section, the archaeological site, the 9-year-old son could not understand anything, becoming frustrated, very sad, because he wanted to know. The guide was insensitive, without observing the context. The service provider's uncompromising with the 9th most spoken language in the world affected a family of 3 people, who paid for two children the price of an adult, disturbing a child, who could be in any amusement park or at the computer, but wanted to take advantage of the knowledge brought with the effort of countless European archaeologists.

Not enough time for Pompeii - The French and English groups were on the same bus, so the guide repeated the same things in both languages. There wasn't enough time for Sorrento and Pompeii. Especially for Pompeii. Pompeii is quite big and I think we saw very little there. This trip should last at least a couple of hours longer. It's a little too obvious that they don't really care whether you have a good experience or not. They just do their job and and overall it was OK.

Long day, amazing sights, but very limited time spent in Sorrento and Pompeii - The pick up at the hotel went well and we were soon on an air-conditioned coach travelling to Sorrento. The views were incredible as we travelled however we had very little time in Sorrento particularly as we were not allowed to eat on the coach so couldn't eat some food on the go and had to go into the Limoncello factory and also find time to grab something to eat in Sorrento- we could say it was because of the traffic that there was so little time, however I believe the traffic is always like that so they should allow more time. When we got to Pompeii we were then taken into a Coral Jewellery showroom, again wasting time for what we had actually come for which was the ancient monuments in Pompeii - it was so quick that we didn't even have time to look in a gift shop, so I missed my usual fridge magnet that I buy at each special destination. The guide and driver were excellent as was the guide that took us around Pompeii - we enjoyed the tour, but people need to book with full understanding of how little time you will get in the locations - 1.15hr in Sorrento and 2hrs in Pompeii but that was with the guide and left no free time at all. Maybe if the day had been a bit later getting back to Rome we could have had more time in the places we wished to see. Final disappointment is that they do not get you back to your hotels, but stop near the metro for you to make your own way back unlike in the morning where they pick you up.

Nice sights a little Tourist Trappy - Pickup was no problem and on time, I did feel our time at Pompeii was quite rushed, I enjoyed the content of what we saw but felt I was being rushed along. I would have preferred not to have stopped at the café/gift shop on the way there and the way back, and the cameo gift shop (all felt like a bit of a hard sell tourist stop) and had that extra hour and a half to not feel rushed at Pompeii the actual focus of our trip. I also did not think it was clear we would not get a drop-off Being left in downtown Rome at 8:00 pm. This was not a problem for us as we are familiar with the bus system, however I feel some folk would have been thrown off by this.

The trip from hell - This trip was not what was described on the website. The organizers took so long getting us ready to go that we got less than an hour in Sorento. It was also the only opportunity we had for lunch so we basically took an expensive bus ride to Sorento to scarf down a lunch and had no time at all to see the beauty of the city. So disappointing. The website said we would have two hours in Sorento. Not even close!! The guide was listless and uninteresting. He barely mentioned landmarks and gave absolutely no background or history on anything we saw. We chose an English speaking tour and ended up on a bus with mostly Spanish speaking tourists. English translations were an afterthought. Our bus driver was literally on the phone the entire time he was driving. He would end one call and immediately start another. He used ear buds, but we got to listen to his one sided conversations the entire six hour bus ride. The most annoying and unsafe thing I have ever experienced. The only saving grace of this trip was the visit to Pompeii. The archaeologist guide (not from the tour company) was interesting, knowledgeable and thorough. If it had not been for this leg of the trip, this trip would have gotten 0 stars. We will never take a viator tour again.

A disappointing first experience with Viator tours in Italy. - The tour claimed to be to Sorrento yet we had only 45 minutes in Sorrento, hardly enough time to even walk to the center of town. The guide from the tour company was not accommodating in any way to us when questioned why we had only 45 minutes in Sorrento. They use the excuse of "heavy traffic" which really was not any of our problems. Given the fact we had paid to visit two cities I had heard good things about Viator and this was my first experience and will be my last. We spent more time that day on the bus than we actually spent in either Sorrento or Pompeii. Hardly worth the money to take a bus ride to the cities that we could've taken a train to for less and seen on our own. Definitely a disappointment and would not travel with Viator. And then in Pompeii, following the guided tour, our bus guide was questioned as to why we could not spend 15 minutes in the gift shop since we were already cheated out of our trip to Sorrento, and knowing that many of us were already upset responded; "we're on a strict time schedule and we are already late because of the traffic ". So, because of traffic everyone on the bus who had paid $130 for this trip was treated to a bus ride to two cities that we spent very little time in and actually spent 60% of the time with Viator tours on a bus. The guide that we met in Pompeii was quite good, but really didn't seem to care a lot about any of us and was just "doing their job" hence my one star rating. When I called several numbers and tried to find who would take responsibility for the mishaps, I was treated rudely and no one wanted to take responsibility. I did in the end receive a $13 refund for the Sorrento part of the trip which hardly seems equitable since Sorrento was half of the trip and I received a 10% refund. Very disappointing. Definitely learned my lesson with this tour company
