Five Stars for Viator and This Tour! - My sister and I, both retired, loved every minute of this day trip out of Rome! Aside from being extremely handsome (think Patrick Dempsey with a perfect tan), our guide, Giovanni, was warm, friendly, and very knowledgable about every aspect of the tour—including how to make Limoncello at home! He made all of us feel like he genuinely cared about us having the best experience possible—which we did. With the EXPERT driving of Isidore, who maneuvered sharp turns on crowded, narrow streets with jaw dropping precision, we travelled through Naples, stopped at a charming seaside shop to taste Limoncello, then had an hour to explore the beautiful town of Sorrento with its wonderful shops and sweeping views of the Mediterranean Sea. After lunch (provided), we made our way to Pompeii where Francesco, another fabulous guide, led us through the fascinating ruins of the doomed ancient city. The presence of Mt. Vesuvius looming in the distance added an almost surreal element to the experience. Though it made for a long day (we left at 7:15 am and got back at about 9 pm), it was so worth it. Unforgettable!
**tip: sit on the right side of the bus—not behind the driver—for best photo opportunities en route!

Good time - Had a great time. Would have liked a tiny bit more time in sorrento but still it was a great time.
Francesco was very entertaining and professional while explaining the Pompeii ruins .

An unforgettable experience, we had a great time and were very comfortable. - The experience has been very good, we have enjoyed it very much, both Giovanni and the guide who put us in Pompeii have been very friendly and attentive, Giovanni was at all times watching everything. To put a but, the food was not very good.

Top guides and great trip! - Our guide Giovanni was absolutely top! He was knowledgeable, clear and sympathetic. Full-day tour that can be recommended. Exactly the right stop on the trip. Our guide inside Pompeii was also great!

Giovanni Saved Our Day. Thank you. - The tour was all well-planned except for the little mistake that could have happened anywhere and at any time.
At this exact point, our guide, Giovanni, took the responsibility and relieved us of stress by reorganizing our next-day trip. He intermediated the communication between us and the tourism agency.
My observation is that he is a blend of Italian spirit and professionalism. So, you should expect a lot of fun, a very professional and constructive attitude, and a lot of interesting information about the destination during the tour.

Our tour guide Giovanni was fantastic. He was knowledgeable, approachable, and overall a great presence. I cant sing his praises - This day trip had many components to it, a tasting, lunch, and a wonderful tour of Sorrento & Pompeii. Couldn't have been happier with the way it was structured and facilitated.

Good tour with a glitch - Tour itself was fine. Local guide at Pompeii was Francesco. Very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He had been archeologist on site. We moved VERY fast as it was the end of the day.
I knew that the itinerary could be reversed, so checked weeks out to confirm Sorrento would be last, as our plan was to not get back on the bus there as it was the next destination on our trip. We had our bags with us (I’d OKd this in advance). Our guide for the bus and Sorrento portion was very helpful in finding a solution that had the local guide get us to the train station in Pompeii for a return ride to Sorrento (35 min). Long day. Very glad we didn’t just skip Pompeii.

Hunted, not recommended - We first went to Sorrento during this trip. Something that in my view was a total waste of time. We got there with 45 minutes to do something there. This also includes the time you need to walk back to the meeting point. Then you get the limoncello "tour" with "tasting". I don't think this should even be called that. You arrive at the location and are drawn into a long hallway where there are a few signs with some text about limoncello (which you can't read because you have to walk through) at the end of the hall are employees with shot glasses where you get a bottom of limoncello. Then you are immediately in the gift shop where you can buy far too expensive chocolate etc. This also had to be done quickly because you had to go back for lunch at 3 o'clock. This was also a special experience. You had to quickly get off the bus, where we left the bag because there was no indication that we couldn't get back on the bus or that we were almost there. You were immediately pointed to a place and you had to sit there too. The food also came equal because you almost had no time for this. Booking food optionally is therefore not really an option, since you do not have time to look for something else. So if you want to eat, you have to book this. We were immediately drawn to the entrance of pompei (just walk). Our water was still in the bus because it was not communicated that we were almost there and we did not go back on the bus. Pompei itself was super. We got a guide from there and he knew a lot. This last part is definitely recommended but the rest of the tour absolutely not. Rather spend a little more time in one location so you can actually see these than this hunting. For people with walking difficulties, this tour is certainly not advisable as the pace is so fast that little is taken into account. I therefore do not recommend this tour for all of the above. That the guide in pompei was so good has ensured that the rating has not become 1.

Itinerary misleading - The itinerary given is not correct. The drive time from Rome to Pompeii was more like 3 hours with all the traffic. This means we spent less time in Pompeii and got back late. The whole time I felt rushed. The guide in Pompeii kept saying “take one picture and then move along.” He insisted on showing us the brothel, which was so popular there was a line to see it. We could have gone to other areas instead of waiting in the queue. There was no time left at the end for browsing the bookstore or gift shop. Lunch was similarly rushed. They had indicated that the restaurant would be able to accommodate my gluten free request, but I have celiac disease and am super sensitive. The gluten free pasta was sub par, and I was sick for the rest of the trip.

To be avoided. Scam company - We arrived at the meeting point and were then taken to a different one, waiting almost an hour before departing. We later found out that the company selling this tour isn’t actually authorized to do so and simply sends you on a competitor’s tour instead! The tour itself was amazing, but it’s run by a completely different company — which shouldn’t be happening. An absolute scam! When we asked for a refund for waiting over an hour before departure, they told us that the tour is usually canceled, so we should consider ourselves lucky. Definitely to be avoided!
