Leonardo da vinci exhibition - We liked the exhibition, it had several replicas of Leonardo's work. They welcomed us well, we opted for the audio guide and walked through the rooms. The location is easy to find, close to the flower field.

Learn about Leonardo‘s amazing mind - This little museum is a must see while in Rome. It has replications of many of da Vinci’s inventions, some of which predated their implementation by several hundred years. It is great for children as well, as you are permitted to touch and operate many of the replications. He designed a parachute, a printing press, a personal flying machine, a submarine, a scuba suit, a design to allow humans to walk on water, and multiple devices involving human power only. The museum is well captioned. We did not purchase the audio tour, but we saw quite a few people who did. We did not think it would be necessary, and that turned out to be true. We walked away in awe of Leonardo‘s genius. In addition, the people who staffed the ticket office were awfully nice, held onto our umbrellas and jackets, so we didn’t have to carry them around, and gave us good guidance. The museum is in the ground floor of a palazzo. Our only critique is that the lighting is poor, but we were able to read everything with the aid of our iPhone flashlights. Almost all of the explanations of the various machines were in multiple languages.

Prepare to be astounded by this delightful museum. - Beautifully designed museum, full of examples of Leonardo’s brilliant ideas, designs and artworks. Some of the recreations of his machines can be operated by museum-goers. When we visited on October 22, 2024, there were only a few other people in the museum, a welcome change from the hordes of tourists everywhere else we’d been in Rome. If you have even a passing interest in Leonardo and his genius, visit this lovely museum.

Tribute to genius Leonardo da Vinci - Tribute to genius Leonardo da Vinci. The tour is good fun for children, we could play with the replicas. Impressive how talented Leonardo was, mastering architecture, constructions, arts, natural science, etc. Highly recommended, including amusing gift shop 😀

Very disappointing, disorganised exhibit with abysmal audio guide - This was by far the most disappointing visit we did as a family in Rome. The quality of the exhibit was far below anything else we saw in the city: exhibition materials poorly maintained, disorganised rooms, significant typos and translation issues on the descriptions of both of the languages I speak as a native. Given the other decent reviews, I think perhaps what made this experience so memorably terrible for us was the fact we paid extra for the abysmal audio guide : there was only one audio track per room, with each track not following the flow of the room. It was impossible to know what part of the room the track was talking about, and it really detracted from engaging with that was on display. We are a family keen on art, engineering and science, so in theory we should have loved this exhibit. In summary: I would possibly only do this exhibit if it was heaving with rain out and you had done every other indoor activity in the city already. If you do go, certainly do NOT purchase the audio guide which was a huge detractor.
