Catacombs of Saint Callixtus - Situated along the historic Appian Way, one of the most renowned and well-preserved roads of ancient Rome, visitors will discover mausoleums and relics from the imperial era, which are recommended to explore before or after attending the concert. In this vicinity, the famous underground catacombs can be explored, which were carved by early Christians to evade persecution, conduct liturgies, and inter their deceased, including martyrs and popes.
The Catacombs of San Callisto are the most renowned and frequently visited in Rome, celebrated for their vast networks and multiple levels that extend up to 20 meters deep. These spaces were decorated with mosaics and frescoes, some of which remain visible today, such as in the crypt of Saint Cecilia, the patroness of music and singing, who was martyred under Emperor Domitian.
Following the concert, visitors will have the opportunity to tour the Catacombs of Saint Callixtus with a professional archaeologist in their preferred language (IT, EN, FR, DE, ES).
