This tour comprises an immersive Virtual Reality session that will transport you to the heart of ancient Rome.
This intimate group tour caters to a maximum of eight participants, ensuring your guide can provide personalized interaction and guidance.
- This Tour is provided in English
- • All riders must be at least 16 years old, in accordance with Italian law. If you have children under 16 in your group, they will not be able to participate, and will not be eligible for a refund.
- Riders must have the ability to make motions such as climbing and descending stairs without assistance.
- It is recommended to wear comfortable shoes. Please do not carry large bags whilst on the Segway.
- Please bring proof of identification with your confirmation voucher

Your tour meets at our office, located at Via dei Delfini 35/36, 00186 Rome. We are located about 150 meters from Piazza Venezia (a 5 minute walk) and 1.5 km from the Colosseum (approximately a 15 minute walk). Please arrive 15 minutes prior to tour departure.

What a fun experience! - What an awesome experience! When travelling walking all day can get a little exhausting so we opted to try the Segway tour and absolutely loved it!! It was such a fun way to explore some of the sights of Rome. Our guide Liv was so lovely, knowledgeable and interactive. Highly recommend!

Highlight of holiday - Elaina was amazing. Wonderfully patient with us all getting to grips with the Segways. We all looked like pros within minutes. The VR element was a great unexpected layer that brought ruins of Rome to life. We all had do much fun - universally the highlight of the holiday.

Holiday - Great fun. Liv was tremendous at ensuring we all knew how to use the Segway. Kept us safe on the road.
She was fun to have as our guide and had alot of knowledge of Rome and other parts of Italy.
Definitely would do it again.

History brought to life - Friendly knowledgeable guide with a touch of humour explained everything for the layman to understand. We were lucky enough to be the only people on the tour too. Other colleagues at Fat tyre tours office were friendly too and provided water and a clean restroom for use. Good Segway instruction before we set out. We really enjoyed our tour around the main sites with the added bonus of 3D effect viewing glasses to show how the ruins would have been which really helped to bring the guides commentary to life. Defo recommend.

Great time on the Segway. - This Tour was conducted by Fat tire tours. Sarah our guide was very good in teaching us how to ride a segway and superbly guiding us through the streets of Rome while explaining the historical sites. She also gave us virtual tours using VR Mask when we stopped at historical sites. This is one of the most enjoyable tours.

Fantastic tour - This was a great tour to go on. We ended up being the only people so it felt like a private tour. The tour guide was so much fun and made us feel safe to ride the Segways. Was a fun way to see the sights, get some beautiful pictures and see the famous places without walking the whole day.

Highly recommended and ask for Mateo. - Due to being dumped on a corner by a dodgy taxi driver, and told it was up the road (it wasn't), I didn't make the scheduled time. A call on WhatsApp for directions, and a few minutes later, someone arrived on a bike and led me to the office. I was about 10 minutes late, but fortunately, they were showing people how to use a Segway. I had ridden one a number of times and quickly caught up. They were super helpful in getting me ready for the trip. They are not on the main road, so give yourself time to find the office.
Mateo was the guide and did a great job. He was sure everyone was comfortable on the Segways before starting. They are really easy to use, and within about 10 minutes, driving around a small secluded area, everyone was confident enough to head off. The rest of the tour had never ridden one before.
The tour was easy and informative. There are plenty of stops and lots of information. I recommend Segway as a first activity in any new city. It gives you an overview, and you can then decide what you want to explore and what you want to pass on. Walking up hills or finding your way around backstreets is not a problem on a Segway. I am 78 and find them a breeze, so don't let age slow you down.
