Wonderful 1 Day Tour from Rome to Sorrento and Pompeii. - We enjoyed very much our trip to Sorrento and Pompeii. The bus was on time, cleaned and very comfortable. Our guide was very attentive, kind, diligent and provided us with specific details about the trip. The guide. Sascha, in Pompeii, was simply outstanding. He provided us with lots of information about Pompeii. His knowledge and presentation were amazing. I will definitely recommend families and relatives to take any trip organized by Gray Line in Italy. The driver, Jonny, has experience in driving in those narrow streets in Sorrento and in the entire Amalfi Coast. Congratulations to him as well.

Long day, flew by. - Francesca-Guide JeanFranco-Driver Fredrica-Trainee. Had a lovely & safe drive to the coastal town of Sorrento. Where Sasha-Sorrento guide took over. Had a limoncello tasting, along with a variety of other liquors, oils, vinegars, chocolates, wine, etc. at Limoncello ai Capri. We bought too much, of course, which was worth it to get the Limoncello at the location, but for the other liquors, you’d be better off getting them in Sorrento square for 50%+ off. Same stuff, much lower in price. Had a quick lunch in town, at the recommendation of Sasha, so the restaurant quickly served us so we could meet the timeline to leave. Then a couple minutes to zip around the quaint streets. Off to Pompeii. We chose to not go on the guided tour with Sasha, and another gentleman because I injured my knee badly before our trip, so we chose to go it alone. Probably not a good idea. We only had about 1 1/2hrs at Pompeii and unfortunately didn’t learn or see much of the site. A tour would’ve been the better route for a quick visit like that. But I loved seeing all the cats and my able bodied husband enjoyed running around taking pics and bringing them back to me to share. It’s quite an impressive site to see. To realize the Pompeiians were so much advanced in building such a huge community. More impressive was that the site is so well preserved obviously due to the super inferno of ash halting time in an instant. We really wanted to see the “bodies” (not really bodies, but the casings of bodies) couldn’t find them on the map. Had no idea where they were. When we met back up to leave, we were told they were in the auditorium. Which we passed twice so duh on us. Was a wee bit annoyed that we were the only ones who showed up on time to leave, most of the rest of the group arrived 30+ minutes late. But Francesca was very patient and we eventually all went to the bus. Pompeii is about a 2 mile circumference. The site easily could take days to take in. Lots of hills, big cobblestones in the roads, etc. So be able bodied and take your time. On the way to Sorrento and from Pompeii, we did stop for a break, so you can get a snack or drink or use the facilities before getting back on the bus. No eating/drinking on the bus. Was a very long day, 7am to 8:30pm but went by pretty fast. WiFi aboard the bus keeps you entertained. Or naps. Lots of naps were had. Thanks for the experience, Francesca, JeanFranco, Sasha & Fredrica.

A truly incredible place. Loved every minute - It’s an incredible site with so much to explore and contemplate. It would have been nice to be able to ask questions of the staff as you ground as prefer not to follow a tour but found some more helpful than others. In any case it’s just an awesome site.

Guides were well-experiencedd - A well organized tour. Sasha and Marco were amazing guides. I wish there was more time to eat lunch at Sorrento. The limoncello tasting could be optional. I highly recommend the tour. The trip was good overall.

Okay if you’re pressed for time and only have a day - Eh. We originally signed up for the trip that would take us direct to Pompeii but they changed it on us and we had to stop in Sorrento. Don’t get me wrong. Sorrento is lovely. I would have stayed in Sorrento longer BUT considering you only get an hour in Sorrento which you have to also get something to eat that leaves you with less than 2 hours in Pompeii. Keep in mind you have to wait for tardy people on the bus and icky traffic in Sorrento and the peninsula itself takes a chunk of time. This was in April Easter week. Maybe better in off season. If you can manage - I would stay in Sorrento or Naples and just do a day trip to Pompeii. The trains are quite easy enough to use. Had I extra time I would have done this. Or even rented a car from Naples to explore the area leisurely. Pompeii needs more time.

Disorganized and unprofessional - Disorganized and unprofessional. Tour guide talked a lot, but didn’t provide a lot of useful information. She also didn’t seem to understand what the tour was planned for and who was participating in what part of the tour. We were told we would have two hours in Sorrento and then when we arrived we were only given an hour and it was brushed off as that is plenty of time. Pompeii was very hot and three different groups with different tours were told to wait in the heat while they sorted out radios… even for those who didn’t need them. The flow was just off and a lot of time on a very short tour was wasted with the disorganization. If you want to see these locations give yourself more time to- too much to do in one day with the drive time.

Too much time at the rest... - Spent way too much time at the rest stop on the way there and back, but unfortunately not enough time in Sorrento and Pompeii. The whole trip felt extremely rushed. You only get a tiny glimpse of them. Sorrento is such a lovely town, but we only got to spend 50 minutes there. Pompeii is impressive but 2 hours ist not nearly enough time to experience it. Would not recommend the tour to anyone.

Messy arrangement without proper explanation. - The morning trip was great initially. The guide was early. Bus journey was good. Not much traffic. However, when reached Pompeii. The guide told us he couldn’t get the tickets and we have to queue the normal queue. Paid for the “skip the line” tickets but ends up queuing 3 hours (10am - 1pm)! The tour operator make up by having a free lunch but our trip to Sorrento was cancelled due to the timing delays. However the good thing about the trip is the Pompeii guide. He understand the tour group was feeling unhappy. He inject some humour in the Pompeii guided tour with fantasy explaination. I hoped the tour operate will refund some partial payment. Since we paid in full for full itinerary.
