A Rainy Day Adventure: Trekking the Marangu Route
For those who crave adventure, the rain adds an element of thrill to the already exhilarating experience of trekking Mount Kilimanjaro. The Scenic Hike offers a picturesque trek via the Marangu Route, leading you through lush rainforests to the Mandara Hut. This trek is available on both January 11th and 12th, starting early in the morning, making it an ideal choice for those looking to embrace the rain.
The journey begins with a drive to the Kilimanjaro National Park Marangu Gate, where you’ll meet your guide and commence the climb. As you ascend, the rainforest comes alive with the sounds of nature. Keep an eye out for the towering Eucalyptus trees, vibrant birdlife, and playful Colobus monkeys. The rain adds a mystical quality to the forest, enhancing the beauty of the surroundings.
Upon reaching the Mandara Hut, take a moment to enjoy a picnic lunch amidst the stunning panorama of the Kilimanjaro region. The descent offers a chance to reflect on the journey, as the rain continues to fall, creating a serene and peaceful atmosphere. A recent review from January 2024 captures the essence of this experience:
Amazing tour and team! Although it rained during the time I went, the guys made it work! I hiked the Marangu route with one of the guys and it was beautiful passing through the waterfalls, flowers, etc. I was given the history as we were walking passed certain points. When we got to the end, we had lunch to enjoy. Good comfort food. The guys are awesome and made everything so fun! A very nice and humble group. They made sure I was good the whole time which was very appreciated. Highly recommend! (Reviewed at: 2024-01-14)
