  The Neelkanth Mandir is associated with a famous Hindu mythology. It narrates the story behind the temple’s unique name. According to the Hindu legend, the Neelkanth Mahadev Temple stands at the same place where Lord Shiva consumed the poison. This was at the time of Samudra Manthan or the churning of the oceans by devas (gods) and asuras (demons)
  Shiva stopped the poison in his throat to enter his body due to which his throat turned blue. Therefore, Shiva got the name “Neelkanth” meaning “The one having a blue throat”. To commemorate Shiva’s sacrifice for mankind, devotees built this temple at the same spot where this event took place.

Embark on a distinctive spiritual and nature-filled journey with the Neelkanth Mahadev Temple Trek, which includes a visit to the enchanting Muani Baba Cave nestled deep within the forest near Rishikesh.

The trek begins between 7–8 AM with a private vehicle transfer from Rishikesh to the revered Neelkanth Mahadev Temple.

After exploring the temple, a guide will lead participants on a downhill trek through Rajaji National Park, a verdant wildlife sanctuary celebrated for its serene trails and natural splendor. This forest path provides a refreshing break from urban life, with opportunities to observe native birds and small wildlife.

During the return trek, there will be a stop at the Muani Baba Cave, the dwelling of a Hindu Naga Sadhu who has lived in spiritual solitude since childhood. Visitors can engage with the Sadhu, gaining unique insights into ascetic life, meditation, and Hindu spiritual practices.
