• Aveņi - Following the palace visit, there is a stop for a leisurely sit-down lunch with a drink, offering a chance to relax and savor local flavors. • Bauska Castle - The journey continues to Bauska Castle, where the atmosphere transitions from elegance to strategy. This medieval fortress once protected vital trade routes and river crossings, and its ruins reveal the region’s turbulent borderland history.
• Kemeri Bog Board Walk Tower - The tour includes about an hour on the wooden boardwalk into the Great Ķemeri Bog (Lielais Ķemeru tīrelis), one of the largest and best-preserved raised bogs in the Baltics. The group remains on the boardwalk throughout, with no off-boardwalk walking. From the boards, visitors can see sphagnum moss, dwarf pines that may be 200 or 300 years old yet no taller than a Christmas tree, and numerous small dark bog pools. Daiga highlights the carnivorous round-leaved sundew right beside the boards (Charles Darwin’s favorite plant).
