fun on the water - Oh so much fun. I loved being out on the water. The rib boats that hold 12 are nice and the seats are shock absorbing. Its almost like you are standing up and there is a rail in front of you to hold on. We hit some big waves and it was like riding a ride at an amusement park. It was great! Wish I had longer legs though as I am only about 5ft 4in and just my toes reached. After 2 hrs on the boat my hips actually were a little sore and I walked funny for awhile that day! Similar to riding a horse. Anyway saw 4 minke whales and white sided dolphin, lots of different birds and puffin.

There be whales, Captain! - It was incredible. Our guide and pilot were excellent and professional and obviously love what they do. We saw 5 humpbacks and a few minkes and a dolphin. Dress warm and get a mug of hot chocolate to warm yourself afterwards.

What a fabulous experience - Very nice staff and loved the boat ride!! That was fun in Itself We saw 2 humpback whales and they have us some tail which was fabulous. I took so many pics and one of the staff also took pics that they’re sharing with the group which I thought was so very nice. Great experience and am glad I went with the smaller boat and this fabulous staff.

Amazing Experience, Great Crew - Amazing trip. The crew were so knowledgeable and clearly cared about the whales to the point they had named and could recognise them. Not only that they were excellent at finding the whales, we encountered two Minkies and also a Humpback which we got great views of from a close but safe distance. A brilliant experience from start to finish!

Whale watching - The ride itself was amazing and fun. Also got to see a tiny bit of a whale. Losing some points in my review because while the tour is titled “ Whales, Puffins & Reykjavík” we did not in fact stop at the Puffin island to look at them. And they had arrived in Reykjavik by this time. Reading the diaries of the 2pm tour and the diaries of the following days - those tours took a stop there. Which is disappointing because I was looking forward to it and one reason why i chose this tours because it said whales & puffins not just whales.

Tourist Trap - Beware - Paid a significant amount of money for sighting of one minke whale and some birds. The website made it seem like sightings were far more common. Tourist trap would not recommend.

Read before booking this tour - I want to preface my review by saying that I don’t blame the operator for my experience at all but I think there’s a general lack of transparency about this tour so I’m hoping other people can read and understand it better before making a decision to spend $250 per person on it. I thought this was going to be a highlight of my trip to Iceland and it ended up being a huge disappointment and I was in tears after. First of all, we did not see anything - no whales or dolphins at all. I understand that it’s wildlife and sightings are not guaranteed. I’ve done my fair share of wild life excursions so this isn’t lost on me. However, when the company keeps advertising 98% success rate on their socials it’s hard to not get your hopes up. Secondly, it’s not a pleasant boat ride. Again, I’ve been on all kinds of boats many times but I think people need to understand that this experience is NOT for the weak. I expected to get splashed, but we were soaked down to our underwear and I couldn’t feel my arms. Those insulated overalls are not fully waterproof. It’s much easier to accept not seeing wildlife when you’re on a larger boat having fun vs. when you’re on this zodiac fighting for your life for over 2h. Handles are very tiny and it’s challenging to hold on, your back and arms WILL hurt after. Luckily I don’t get sea sick but if you get even a little bit nauseous on boats - this isn’t for you, we had a lady throwing up the entire time on our tour. The ride is extremely choppy but not in a thrilling amusement park way, it’s actually terrifying. If you do decide to take a risk, these are the tips 1) bring a second pair of gloves in your pocket, you’re gonna want to change them half way when the first pair is soaked 2) sit at the front or back, not in the middle - middle is supposed to be less choppy but you get soaked the most 3) make sure you adjust your hood so it’s solidly in place - hat is not enough to keep you warm, you need your hood to stay on 4) ensure your boots are super tight - I was wearing fully waterproof boots but the water ended up getting inside from above so my feet were also soaked the entire time 5) book the tour very early in your trip so you can try again if it gets cancelled / if you don’t see any wild life before you leave Iceland Overall, I think it’s better to book a regular big boat whale watching because at least if you don’t see anything - you would have had a nice experience enjoying the views and being on the water, with this tour it’s extremely difficult to fight the disappointment after being so uncomfortable the entire time.
