  • The settlement exhibition - We stop on top of the museum and peer down at the first Viking house in Reykjavik and talk about Vikings. We don’t enter the museum.
  • The settlement exhibition - In a secret location close to the Settlement museum there is an Elfstone / Home of Elves. We talk about Mythology and how quirky Icelanders are in that regard.
  • The settlement exhibition - Close by the Settlement museum is the oldest house in the center of Reykjavik dating back to 1762.

  • Bæjarins Beztu Pylsur - We point out the one and only hot dog stand, Bæjarins Bezu pylsur where you can get the wonderful Icelandic lamb hot dogs. Beware of copycats all around the city center. We could grab a hot dog if the group is hungry.

Great way to see the city - Arnar was a wonderful guide and a descendant of the first settler. We learned much about the history of Iceland and Reykjavík and had an enjoyable walk around the city. The recommendations were spot on and Arnar has a great sense of humor. Highly recommend, but be prepared for the weather!!!

Excellent tour, entertaining guide! - Einar was a wonderful guide - knowledgeable, entertaining and flexible (it was pouring rain, so he adjusted accordingly and took us to a delightful little bookstore/cafe for part of the tour). Took tons of photos for us and sent us a link promptly. I highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting a flavor of Reykjavik.

Waking and Singing with a Viking - Our guide Einer was super knowledgeable! We booked last minute and ended up with just our family - me my wife and two girls 10 & 11. It’s a lot of history and insights into Iceland’s past and present. It was a pretty long tour but our guide was very flexible and we took a break for some hot chocolate and were able to sit and talk more about politics and history. This might not happen with a large group so we were lucky. But all in all our girls said it was great and they learned a lot. I thought they were bored but after the tour they spouted of facts and things Einer spoke about. He concluded the tour with a song/hymn (in Icelandic) a duet with himself via his phone. A nice touch that embarrassed our girls I’m a good way! We’d recommend if you really want some history and deeper insight into Icelanders ideas and way of life

Viking walk around Reykjavik - We had Stefan as our guide who was very knowledgeable and kept us informed of interesting facts about the city and its viking heritage. The route is reasonably flat and the pace is suitable for all walking abilities. Very enjoyable and worth doing.

A Great Way to be Introduced to Reykjavik - This was a very informative tour and was our guide, Einar, was the best. In addition to the facts, a very animated Einar entertained us with folklore, politics and history, answered all our questions and he even sang for us. (He has a great voice!) A great way to be introduced to Reykjavik!

Unsympathetic to Travel woes with CROWDSTRIKE DELTA issue - I was caught in the DELTA meltdown and called to cancel my tour the second I realized that I would not land in time to take it. I respectfully asked for a refund, as it was a WW issue that I had NO control over. I was told that the tour operator would not refund my money.

Dreadful - Unfortunately, our experience with the Viking: Private Tour of Reykjavik was dreadful. Given all the positive reviews, I can only assume it was our specific tour guide. He was sarcastic, humorless, extremely negative, and at times inappropriate. He concentrated on giving us his personal opinions instead of informing us on the Top Sights and Local Spots. It was a huge disappointment given that this was the only time we had to tour Reykjavik on our visit to Iceland. I feel as if we missed out on a great opportunity.
