Great experience - Both me and my partner had an amazing time throughout the day. Our guide Alain was very informative and friendly, offering to take pictures for anyone at locations. From newer reviews we were worried that this would be individual hike, however this wasn’t the case. Alain, took us on the hike as a group, stopping at several point so everyone could catch up and have opportunities to take picture. We were blessed with great weather so could see great views once we got to the top. On the way back down, we had opportunity to go onto lava field from 2021 eruption. He explain to us how to be safe during this. This was amazing. Also, toward the end of the tour, he stopped at an extra stop ‘Brimketill lava rock pool’. It was high tide so we couldn’t see rock pool but the waves were great to watch.

Good day seeing the site... - Good day seeing the site of the recent eruptions. Also got to see some other cool things including where the North American and European tectonic plates meet. We did also stop by Blue Lagoon and got to look in. I'm not sure why there is so much interest in it, given that it's man made, filled with geothermal plant water and has a backdrop of a geothermal plant. There are so many natural wonders in Iceland to see!

Despite the volcano turned off the very complete tour and very detailed explanations - Visit of lava flow and volcano. Visit a hot spring site and a village where lava flows through it. Explanation of the formation of different layers of lava

Fantastic experience with... - Fantastic experience with our guide Alain, he has a l9t of information and knowledge to share. Being able to get up close to a volcano and appreciate the vast amount of lava that once flowed around it, its a real eye opener, then to be able to walk on that very lava fields is phenomenal, you can literally feel the heat below you if you sit down and if you put a hand between a crevice you can feel the steam from inside, you have breath taking views along the whole route, once you reach the top you have spectacular views out to the coastal village of Grindavik and the current eruption site. I would 100% recommend this tour

Nice tour with good views and individual hiking - We had a quiet nice Tour, our great guide Juliana drove us safely to several places on the Reykjanes Peninsula (Sentúr Hot Springs, Kleifarvatn, Grindavík) and gave us many information about Reykjanes and helpful tipps for the hike in the recent volcano area. The hike itself as main part of the tour was done individual by each participant of the group, so everyone could do it according to his own condition and speed. The area was quiet foggy this day but anyhow we had extraordinary views on smoking Lavafields and came very close to recent eruption sites. Only if you expect a guided hike with more information about geology or other, this tour may not be the right one. We had fun, thanks Juliana and Bustravel Iceland.

Beautiful but it deserves! - It really takes walking shoes with non-slip soles and kway. Top plus trousers. Very interesting for those who kiff like us volcanoes. But it's 5 km walk to the driveway and back on a bumpy path. I admit that in the rain and in the mud with smooth soles and jeans I had to dip into my reserves!

Total disappointment - This has been by far the worst of the 4 excursions we have done in Iceland and the behavior of the guide, Michal, has made it even worse.
My wife and I were the first to get on the bus and we sat in front. At first Michal was friendly and spoke to us in Spanish and seemed like a good guide, but soon after, when we made the first stop at a coffee shop, he took advantage of the moment when I was ordering a coffee to approach my wife and tell her that he did not like her perfume, Black Opium by Yves Saint Laurent, and that for that reason we had to sit back, away from him. When my wife told me I couldn't believe it, but it was true and Michal confirmed it to me. Since we were right at the beginning of the excursion, I didn’t want to make a fuss and call Bus Travel Iceland to denounce such despicable treatment, because the rest of the passengers were not at fault and the delay in reporting the guide would hurt them. So I agreed to sit at the back of the bus, punished for not meeting the aromatic tastes of the guide.
Then we reached the point where the walk to the volcano was beginning. The terrain was completely muddy, full of puddles, slippery stones and areas not suitable for non-experts in trekking in adverse conditions, as was our case. The surprise was to hear the guide, before he started, tell us that he was walking fast and that he was not going to wait for anyone. Soon after, Michal and the group that could keep up with him left us behind and in the end we lost sight of them. With the rain falling and the infernal conditions of the terrain, my wife had many problems moving apace and slipped several times. One of the times he fell to the ground and, although fortunately no damage was done, the guide was not there to help us, as was his obligation, because he had left us behind for half an hour. We didn’t tell him anything when we saw him again because it was no longer of any use and we didn’t want to interact with him again. We simply decided to ignore him for the rest of the excursion.
Regardless of what happened, the excursion itself is not worth it. The volcanic area is only interesting if there is an active eruption that allows to see molten lava, but if it is not only a volcanic terrain more like those of the Canaries, without anything special. The hike might be interesting, but at the extreme speed of the guide, who is in a hurry to finish fast and take other tourists to the Blue Lagoon, it is more torture than enjoyment. And finally, the landscapes of Reykjanes, except when there are eruptions, as I said, are the least interesting and most boring in all of Iceland.
Therefore, I do not recommend this Bus Travel Iceland excursion.
