Additional Information

The static display of The National Museum of Iceland, titled ‘Making of a Nation - Heritage and History in Iceland’, is driven by the query: What constitutes a nation? It offers a glimpse into the historical journey of the Icelandic people from the time of Settlement until today.

The exhibition is crafted to take visitors on a chronological voyage: starting with the vessel that took medieval settlers across the sea to their newfound land, and culminating in a contemporary airport, which serves as the point of global access for the Icelanders.

Get the history before you do anything eise - Very nice history. I have learned many things about Iceland this trip. Only criticism would be to have a sort of path on the floor and the flow was a bit uncertain

Educational and great audio guide - This museum was quite a nice surprise! It has an audio guide that you can access using your phone so it is a good idea to bring your earphone with you. We enjoyed the museum and how well the history of Iceland was explained. Recommendable.

Nice History Museum - The museum was great. There was a lot of history that we learned at the museum that we had not heard before. Great exhibits. Very nice employees. Signage could have been better for finding the museum.

High cost museum - The museum is too expensive for the contents it offers. There are many other museums that you probably can get better values.
