Walking the past - Interesting walk through the settlement of Iceland. The audio is informative, a little slow in places. The exhibits are so lifelike and the stories fun.

Spare Hour in Reykjavik - We had an hour spare today during our Iceland trip and decided to try The Saga Tour. It was far better than expected with the scenes depicting the history of Iceland life and culture being so lifelike. The accompanying audio guide really brings this history to life. The 'dress like a Viking' display at the end of the tour is a must do. Even if you feel too old to get involved, it's not just for children.

Viking History - Interesting tour about the Viking history. The wax figures were so life-like, I expected them to move any second. Good tour for kids.

Worth it - Great origin/making of story of the museum. Fantastic staff especially the guy in the gift shop. Interesting exhibit with 30-minute guided audio tour. Outstanding figures with crazy realistic eyes. Worth it and not too busy in the middle of a beautiful October Monday.

Unforgettable - Located in the capital, this fascinating Viking museum offers you a unique experience to immerse yourself in the rich history of the Vikings, inspired by the ancient sagas. Here you can admire wax figures representing prominent Vikings, while telling you significant accounts of their time. In addition, audio guides are available in several languages so that everyone can enjoy the visit. At the end of your tour, you will have the opportunity to dress like a true Viking and capture fun moments in photographs. The cost of entry is approximately 30 usd.

Fun, creepy and educational - I had a blast in this museum! The fee is reasonable and you’re given an audio piece for the narration. You enter a kind of creepy dungeon like place where they have displays of silicon figures that are displaying certain scenarios. The different sections are numbered and the narration goes off by the numbers. Yes it’s a little creepy in there but it’s also super educational. Nobody jumps out lol but you do get that feeling like something will- don’t worry- no jumpers. When you’re done you can try on some costumes( historically accurate ) and pose for photos. It’s all fun! I would definitely come back here- I even loved the gift shop, they have an array of beautiful jewelry for reasonable prices.

Even non-waxwork fans will enjoy this one - I'll admit it, I hate waxworks. I instantly feel sick whenever I go to Madame Tussauds and the like, yet at the Saga Museum I swallowed my pride (and bile) and found this museum to be a fascinating summary of the Icelandic / Nordik sagas. The staff were amazing and friendly, and we were kitted out with our audio guides, which are an essential part of the tour. Each display has eerily realistic waxworks of the principal characters in each saga, with the audio guide (and that gorgeous Icelandic accent) describing what the characters were famous for, as well as insights into everyday life as Vikings established a new home in these verdant isles. It's not the world's biggest museum but if you love history and stories you'll really enjoy this (and it's not unreasonably priced by Iceland standards!) The only downside for us was an annoying kid who obviously ignored all the 'do not touch' signs and proceeded to 'parp' poor Freydis exposed breast (pity she didn't come to life and give him a swipe with her sword, the cheeky little twerp!) Parents, supervise your kids better!!

Fun, Interesting, Small Museum - We had a lot of fun at this museum!! I would highly recommend the audio tour. It is free with the entrance ticket. I learned quite a bit about the viking history around Reykjavik. After going through the exhibits, take some time to dress up like vikings - it makes for great photos!! The wax figures were incredibly life like. All of us swear one was breathing!! They have a video at the end showing how they are made - it is interesting to watch.

It was a very informative experience. It's a small museum but nice. a little pricey, nicely located by the Marina - I did not take pictures, because I was very focus on listening to the audio, and wanted to concentrate on the information shared regarding the vikings and the history of their arrival to Iceland, back on the days
