Awesome time with Bo - We had an amazing time with Bo as our guide!! The tour was engaging and fun. The visit to the graveyard at dusk was perfect for ghost stories as well. Highly recommended and worth the money.

Neat tour! - Had a great time! The tour was interesting, and we explored parts of Reykjavik that we wouldn't have otherwise. Our tour guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and a great singer! Also, he handed out magnets and mine now lives on my fridge. :)

The Elves are Real, if you just believe - Stephen, our tour guide, was quite knowledgeable and entertaining as he shared Icelandic folklore with us. In addition to being educational, the tour helped us familiarize ourselves with the city center and see sections we may have not known to visit.

Fun Personal Tour! - Mathias was great! My husband and I were the only two who had booked the tour so we basically had our own personal tour. This was great and allowed us to get to chat one on one and ask several questions. He told many interesting stories about Icelandic folklore and was very animated and funny the whole time. 10/10 experience - would highly recommend!

Magical & Memorable – A Walk Through Reykjavik’s Hidden Worlds - This folklore walking tour was such a fun and unique way to experience Reykjavik. Instead of just seeing the city’s landmarks, we got to hear the stories behind them: tales of elves, trolls, ghosts, and Icelandic superstition that brought the streets to life in a totally unexpected way. Our guide was an incredible storyteller, blending history with humor and just the right amount of mystery. We learned about hidden elf houses, haunted buildings, and legendary creatures said to roam the lava fields. Whether you believe in the Huldufólk or not, the stories were fascinating and gave a whole new depth to Icelandic culture. I loved that this wasn’t a typical “facts and dates” tour. It felt intimate, imaginative, and full of personality. We walked through downtown Reykjavik, past places I had already seen, but now with a richer understanding of how folklore still shapes Icelandic life today. Highly recommended for anyone looking to see Reykjavik through a different lens. A perfect mix of history, mythology, and storytelling—whimsical, spooky, and unforgettable.

Interesting enough, although more history than folklore - We enjoyed the tour, and the guide was very informative. However we thing it was somewhat mis-sold! We were expecting to hear lots of stories of legend - elves, trolls and ghosts - but felt that much of the tour was history, too. The history was interesting, however we felt that it could have focused on the folklore more.

Arrogant, rude and condescending guide - Our guide was knowledgeable and knew all the stories. In many cases he acted them out and was very funny. But he was also arrogant and rude. Every comment made by a participant was “corrected.” Then he had the nerve to ask us why we weren’t asking questions. I can’t speak to the other participants but in my case I had been up for 36 hours straight and couldn’t string together a coherent thought. I mentioned this to him and his response was that you learn by asking questions. Condescending much? But the frosting on the cake was when he criticized my Christian faith. Our guide was a pagan and very proud of his tattoos indicating as much. He made it very clear that he abhors Christianity. I don’t care that he was a pagan, and he’s free to share information about paganism with the tour if it’s relevant material. But I’m paying for a folklore tour, not to have the Christian faith criticized. The only reason I’m giving him a two instead of a one is that he really did know the subject matter and was excited to share it with us. Do better, Stephan.
