Volcano hike - Great day out with perfect weather. The views were fantastic and our guide Peter was excellent and very knowledgeable. Tiring on the legs, but well worth the experience, you would never get anywhere else.

A bit of a hike but well worth the effort - My wife and I booked this tour many months prior to the actual tour hoping that the volcano would be active. Although it was not erupting, we were simply amazed by the site of the solidified lava flows and to be able to see it still steaming was most impressive. We took a lot of photos of this beautiful area, but there just isn't a photo that does the place justice. You have to experience the sights and sounds and with a really great tour guide like we had to truly appreciate the experience as a whole. I would recommend this to anyone who can appreciate the magnificence and power of nature.

Great hike but no lava - I am an avid hiker so I really enjoyed this excursion. The volcano still has some heat present with steam but we were not able to get close enough to see any lava at the surface if that is what you want to see you would need to book shortly after an eruption

good representative experience of Icelandic volcanic nature close and personal - very informative hike, we got to walk on a lava field from couple years ago still warm with stem coming out in places. Got to see first hand the devastation produced by recent eruption, it is impressive to see how the gigantic lava flow engulfed the whole valley. lots of weird formations. Along the way stopped as volcanic hot mud pots with boiling mud bubbling over. we also drove through evacuated town of Grindavik the site of recent eruptions, gradually destroying the town. The guide was generally informative but occasionally could not answer basic questions about geology. when we hiked the recent sites of lava flows, our guide picked up rather fast pace, so the group stretched for a while. I am experienced mountain hiker so kept up with him, but many straggled. To his credit he stopped at times to wait for all to catch up. Overall good representative experience of Icelandic volcanic nature close and personal.
