Northern Lights Bucket List - Guide was excellent and shared lots of Iceland history.
Each stop on the tour was better than the one before. Great picture opportunities and a very memorable experience. ✅

Fantastic - Actually seeing the lights. Our guide Simon the 1st was the absolute best. He was a great guide. I would recommend him and this tour to anyway. Thank you Viator

Finally found those lights - Viator’s partner EastWest tours was great. Our tour guide taught us about the three elements needed to have northern lights. We searched a good bit even though the conditions were not ideal. It was clear and dark but the solar activity was not conducive. He was very funny and sang songs and we did a Northern a light dance to get the lights to “turn on”. They finally came late after much trolling around. Our guide was funny and made the experience so enjoyable. The hot cocoa and donuts were a plus

We saw the lights! - We went on this tour knowing that seeing the lights is pure luck. We honestly thought we weren’t going to see them as we drove to a couple of places. It was in February so very cold and snowy. Our driver though (I believe his name was Magnus but apologies if I’ve got that wrong) didn’t cut the trip short. He took us to one last place and as soon as we got off the minibus there they were! Faint at first but got stronger and stronger the more we stayed. An incredible sight and so lucky to have seen them on our first try and our first night in Iceland.
I think being on a smaller bus rather than a big coach meant that we could get to places the bigger vehicles couldn’t. There was only about 14 of us on the minibus so a much nicer and experience and well worth the extra cost!
I’d highly recommend the tour (just remember it’s luck if you get to see them not the tour guides fault if you don’t)

Lucky to catch some Nothern Lights - Lucky to catch some Northern Lights, though not strong enough. Have to caution when returning after midnight for those without hotel pick up.

3rd Attempt and saw the light. - We had an excellent guide who tried his best to find the elusive lights. He didn’t let us down.
Well done

Worth the wait - Third time lucky! Our trip was cancelled twice, rescheduled and finally on third night we managed to see the lights. Pick up chaos, running from one bus to another. Drive in a minibus out of Reykjavik to a dark spot and you wait for lights to show up. You definitely need good camera to capture them as you don't see them with naked eyes. Overall good experience and glad we managed to see them

Book with an operator who will definitely take photos - Booked via an agency for this tour. Specifically booked it as it stated they took photos and we'd get access to them. Perfect! First attempt cancelled due to the weather. No problem whatsoever in getting on the following day...... Really nice driver who tried his hardest to find any lights but it wasn't to be. Once again, easy to rearrange for the following evening. We were late back from an all day trip (due to a snow storm) and they kindly came back to pick us up (we were the first pick up and by the time we arrived back they were still picking up so swung by again which we were very grateful for). An elderly gentleman driver. His mic didn't work so unless you were sitting right at the front you couldn't hear a word. The first lot of hot chocolate was stone cold! We parked up near a lighthouse and were really lucky to witness the lights. Sadly the driver took no photos and, as we couldn't see the lights with our naked eye and I couldn't pick them up on my phone/camera we were bitterly disappointed. Luckily a very nice lady on our bus sent her photos she took to me. I messaged the company to say about the photos only to be told they don't take photos, they don't work with Wake Up Reykjavik anymore and that was it. Upon looking at Holiday Tours website, it was still stating on their info of the tour that photos were being taken (there's also NO WiFi and you're not offered - or at least we weren't- blankets). I pointed this put to them and they've now changed it apparently. My advice would be to choose a company who will DEFINITELY take photos for you to access. I'd have loved a photo of us with the lights - I thought that's what we'd get but sadly nothing. It's a real shame and I do regret booking with Holiday Tours now.

Total Disaster - Third attempt no northern lights.
The first time was cancelled due to bad weather conditions, the second tour we had no luck.
The forecast for the third night was great, the kp index, a number between 0 and 9 indicating the probability of seeing Aurora, was 6 out of 9, which was a really high probability (see the Met online site for Reykiavik).
Well, we were very excited and thrilled about the forecast.
Our guide drove us 30 min out of Reykiavik in direction to the keflavik airport. The sky was clear most of the time but also very bright. The forecast showed clearer skies in other places, but we stayed in the ONE place for about 1 -1,5 h, we got our hot chocolat and pastries, and that was it. Our tour guide simply said ok, sky is clear, but no northern lights, and asked us if we wanted to go back to Reykjavik...? he said there was no point in waiting or driving to other places...
A lady in the tour seemed to know more and be better informed about the aurora forecast than he was!?? that was really dissapointing.
So it was NOT a hunt, but just a very expensive ride to have a hot chocolate near the airport. We were really disappointed. Total disaster.
He put 0 effort and did not share any detailed information about Aurora or Iceland.
To be fair, our other tour guide drove us all over the southern part of the peninsula, so he was really trying to find the lights, we just had no luck.
Are you willing to risk it?
I wouldnt recommend this tour company to anyone.
