Reconnect us with life - There are certain things that bring us inner peace and reconnect us with life. Scholars believe that a beautiful view, where your eyes meet the horizon and the lushness of nature, is one of the best remedies for the soul. This tour to the Pastoruri Glacier was exactly one of those soul-cleansing experiences. The van picked us up early at the hotel, as scheduled, and it was very comfortable with an excellent driver. The trip isn’t too long, but it takes around 1.5 hours, with a few stops for bathroom breaks and to refill water (which is essential). During the ride, our guide shared valuable information about the importance of snow-capped mountains to Peru and the world, some interesting facts about the mountains, and tips for when we arrived at the site. At the park where the Pastoruri Glacier is located, expect breathtaking views that look straight out of a movie, with an indescribable beauty. The van stops at a parking lot, and from there, you can either walk about 2 km or ride a horse (15 soles for the ascent and another 15 for the descent). Walking is not easy — the altitude really hits you, and it’s possible to feel unwell. However, if you go at your own pace, breathe deeply through your nose and mouth, and chew some coca leaves, you’ll make it. All the effort is worth it when you reach the top and see the colossal wall of ice, along with the crazy birds diving into the freezing lake. We were lucky enough to catch a few snowflakes, so I recommend dressing warmly and bringing a raincoat. On the way back, we had lunch at a restaurant where we had made a reservation earlier (on the way up). We arrived safely in Huaraz, feeling satisfied and well. Our guide, Roy, was incredibly attentive and friendly, explaining everything with great care and enthusiasm. I highly recommend this tour with Scheler agency. They showed great professionalism and quality!

Perfect accommodation and tours! - I stayed at the Hostel Artesonraju (which belongs to the Scheler group) and did several activities with them. The owner is super attentive, helped me with everything, which made my trip much better. The hostel is very comfortable, with a good kitchen and comfortable beds. It is a little far from downtown, but I was picked up at the hostel in the morning for tours, and taxis are pretty cheap in the city (ask the price before you enter, however, and get ready to negotiate! Ask the price at the hostel , they will give you all the information.) In conclusion, they made my stay in Huaraz very comfortable, safe, fun and full of adventures! Loved it!

Unforgettable journey with young children - I travelled to Huaraz at the end of August 2021 in the midst of the pandemic with my family, my wife and my children aged 14, 12 and 3 respectively. Originally buy tickets for a shared tour to Pastoruri Glacier, but when viewing reviews about a private tour with Scheler Artizon Trek, I definitely canceled the original tickets and purchased the private tour. First I want to share that it is entirely feasible to travel with children to the glacier, at 5,200 meters above sea level, in the late winter and in the middle of the pandemic. We had acclimatised a week earlier in the Cuzco region and gradually climbed to 3,700, then to 4,200 and up to 4,043 meters above sea level in the lagoon of Humantay and the mountain of 7 Colores. Regarding the pandemic, in Peru they have much more care and controls than in Mexico where I originate. The private tour with Scheler is a trip in which you are spoiled a lot, it is exclusive to your family or group, at your own pace, always accompanied by the guide, in our case, Scheler personally accompanied us and guided us on the tour, they take care of you at every moment of the trip, and help you whenever you need it, for example, to carry my young child, to negotiate the rent of horses, with oxygen if you need it, etc. The places you visit on the tour are impressively beautiful: the lake of boiling but cold mineralized waters; the pit of a thousand colors whose crystal clear waters allow you to see different colors according to the depth you look at; the rock paintings always mystical; the forest of the Puyas Raimondi whose size and beauty will impress you, we do not have to see them flower but I have seen photos with thousands of flowers per plant, a truly exotic landscape; the Pastoruri glacier impressive to see it at those heights, is easy to access as the vehicles leave you 2 km from the glacier and you walk through a banquet whose inclination is little, yet the route is slow because of how tired it is to walk at 5,200 meters, there they will find toilets, food stalls, horses to travel halfway to the glacier and even people who help you carry your backpack, carry young children, or what you can not carry, are very helpful if you need it. Finally, when you think it’s all over, the cherry on the cake, lunch or lunch comes, Scheler looks for a good place protected from the wind and with a stunning view, installs a formal table exclusive to your family, with hot food and drinks, with glass plates and metal cutlery. Delicious food (thanks to Scheler’s girlfriend, who prepared the meal), served by Scheler and his team without neglecting anti-covid protocols, in all formalities apply alcohol to your hands before eating, and to your hands and soles before entering the vehicle. Satisfy your ego by watching people in their vehicles from a distance with an expression of admiration when you see that exclusive Service that only this private tour can give you. We greatly enjoyed this highly recommended tour. Finally we traveled from Huaraz to Trujillo, without knowing we entered and crossed El Cañón del Pato, one of the most impressive routes I have seen in my life, which has a documentary on History Channel. But that's another story!!!

Very nice walk! - Unfortunately the two tours we closed with the Scheler Artizon Trek were not performed by them. We didn't have any explanations, but I guess there weren't enough people there, so they joined us to another Enterprise. For me, there would be no problem if this was warned, but at no time we were anticipated that it would happen. Nevertheless we really liked the walk. We stayed with a well-organized Enterprise and a very kind guide and willing to guide us. Beautiful landscapes, full of history and finally the view of the glacier. It's all amazing!

Laguna 69 - Much higher than Laguna 69, about 40 minutes walk there will be mountains. Or we had a headache and that's why we gave coca leaves for the walk, or muƱa tea for the stomach. In addition to the fantastic weather experience, a conversation with the locals will be enough to amaze you

A good tour but overpriced by viator - Some very nice views and the walk to the glacier is not long and it is a good trip if you just arrived in Huaraz. A lot of driving but the glacier is worth seeing, at least what is remaining of it. One last advice, do not book with viator, I paid 35usd (that includes the park entrance) when I should have paid 19usd maximum with a tour in Huaraz. Just book in Huaraz, plenty of tour options there.

Not what i expected - The Tour it self was nice and the Glacier very beautiful to Look at. I would definitly recommend it. But when we arrived to Start the Tour in Huaraz there was no "Scheler Artizon Trek" Bus but we were transferred into a "mony Tour" Bus . So we had a mony Tour which costs around 80 Sol instead of a "Scheler Artizon Trek" Tour which costs ~135 Soles. So i would recommend the visit the Glacier but Not to do a Tour with "Scheler Artizon Trek"

Do NOT book this tour on Viator. Terrible organization. - The tour started out great. With a punctual pickup from the hotel by the agency here on Viator. Unfortunately, it all turned bad when I was dropped off at the bus station in the city center where I was told to sit in one of the big buses and abandoned by the original agency from Viator booking. I was on that bus for about 15min - Then began a game of roulette as I was told to de-board and go to another vehicle. After we switched to that vehicle after about 15 min we were told to go to another big bus. After the third bus had already started its journey we were told, after 20 min, to de-bord AGAIN to another bus. This bus stood still for about 30 min before starting to drive - only to its agency - then stopped again. After another 10min we started driving again…only to stop at the gas station at the fringe of the city in order to tank fuel. We finally left Huaraz at 9:50am - more than 1.5 hours AFTER the activity officially started. This meant we got to the glacier super late - we were the last tour group to get there - which meant bad weather and masses of tourists. The lunch ended up not being lunch but an early dinner at 5pm. We arrived in the city around 7pm - taking the entire day for a glacier that is a 40minute hike. This agency that organized the ultimate bus and guide is NOT the agency in Viator - it’s called ā€œLucho toursā€ and you would do better to book with them as they are MUCH cheaper than here.
