This do-it-yourself audio tour offers a glimpse into the immense power of the eminent Republic of Venice and the 19th-century Italian Risorgimento. You’ll be accompanied by some of the world’s most renowned mosaics in the vicinity of numerous UNESCO Heritage Sites.
The expedition begins in ancient Rome, at the mausoleum of Galla Placidia, and continues post the fall to the Basilica of San Vitale. We’ll then traverse through the middle ages to the 19th century, transitioning to Piazza del Popolo. Subsequently, we revisit the era of Gothic rule with the Baptistry of the Ariana before witnessing a complex concealment operation at the Basilica of Sant’Apollinare Nuova. Lastly, we pay homage to the remains of the legendary poet Dante Alighieri, the forefather of the Italian language.
