A Wonderful Half-Day Tour to the Khai Islands! - Our half-day trip to the Khai Islands was an amazing experience and exactly what we’d hoped for! My partner suffers from sea sickness, so we chose this tour specifically for its shorter boat rides to closer islands rather than the more tourist-dense, further-away spots—and it was the perfect decision. She didn’t experience any sea sickness at all, and the smooth, 15-minute boat journey to the first island was a big plus. The day started with a hotel pick-up from Phuket. The only negative aspect of the experience was the communication re pick-up (though we did only 24 hours before so this was more understandable). We called the afternoon on the day we booked just to confirm pick up time etc, the woman we spoke to said she would send the details for collection etc via WhatsApp. We didn't receive anything, but decided we should wake up in time for the general collection time that was listed on the booking to be safe (meaning 6am wake up). We called them once waking up to double check when we would be collected, and she told us it would actually be at 8.30 from our hotel and she would send it via WhatsApp. We didn't receive anything again but took her word for it, went back to sleep, and were downstairs early for collection. The bus to collect us arrived over 15 minutes late, with no communication of this & when we tried to call the number it didn't work. The driver apologised for the delay and we were off. Once collected the trip went off without a hitch. Once at the pier, everything went smoothly. The check-in process was easy, and there were small shops for last-minute items like snacks, water shoes, or waterproof phone cases. A safety briefing followed, and we were ready to go. The tour itself was fantastic. The first island, known as "Cat Island," was adorable with plenty of friendly cats walking around and snoozing. You can do some shallow snorkelling here in a set area, though I would say the other locations were clearer and had more fish so it may be best to cool off briefly but instead get a nice drink and see the cats. (The photos I've included are all from the first island). This was the most touristy & busy of the 3 islands. Be aware you will initially have quite a few locals trying to sell you jet ski rides, cocktails, food etc. The company had designated deck chair areas with a discount on rental cost. There is a deal with cocktails and deck chairs which is worth it just to sit in the shade. However, the place you get the drinks/food from are actual cafes so you can actually walk behind the masses of deck chairs to these food places to sit at tables there or order from them directly rather than the people advertising for them. Ensure that you bring cash with you, as there is of course not an ATM and they do not take card. The second stop only took 5 minutes to get to, and involved snorkelling off the boat. The water was crystal-clear, and the fish were stunning. Though they said we had 30 minutes it seemed like we were only out for 15 minutes before we got called back in. You were recommended to wear your life jacket at this stage which is understandable. The third and final island was a real highlight—quiet, picturesque, and with excellent shallow-water snorkelling. Fresh pineapple, watermelon, and drinks were provided by the company, which was a nice touch. There were more beach cafes at this location, and there was only one other tour group on the island so it was quiet. There was a designated spot to snorkel in and you could see so many different fish in such shallow water! You could buy a cold drink or snacks from a cafe, rent a deck chair, or snorkel. Everyone we spoke with was very kind and helpful. The boat rides were well-organised, and the crew was attentive and helpful. Returning to the pier, we were offered complimentary noodles before heading back to the hotel. Those on the full day package seemed to be staying longer on the 3rd island, and though some might enjoy that we personally found the half day was the best for us and meant we then had a whole afternoon for other activities. Overall, this tour struck the perfect balance of relaxation, exploration, and adventure without the lengthy boat rides or overcrowded beaches. Despite minor communication hiccups, we highly recommend this experience for anyone looking to enjoy the beauty of the Khai Islands!

Very nice but not enough information - The trip was very nice, but the information not good, if you wanted a shade spot on the islands these had to be paid extra. Without a swimming school, it could not, was not in the description. Extra activities were offered such as diving or jet skiing, who takes this much cash on a boat tour.

It was an amazing day! - It was an amazing day! We visited two islands and had ample free time to swim, eat, tan, and snorkel. One of the highlights was snorkelling off one of the islands for 30 minutes – the warm water and vibrant, colourful fish made it unforgettable. The crew was outstanding, providing refreshments and snacks on board. Overall, it was absolutely worth the money and a fantastic way to spend a few hours at sea.

Ok but wouldn’t recommend. - Our last day in Thailand due to fly home at 10pm so though we would do the half day trip to pass time and explore. Advert said 4 hours on get your guide so 11.30am pick up would expect to be done by 15:30. We didn’t get back to our hotel until gone after 7pm the 4 hour boat trip turned into nearly 8 hours leaving us nearly missing our flight home. 2 hour travel time to the pier and 2 hours back to the hotel really needs to be advertised as this was not made aware to us at any point. If we were not travelling home it wouldn’t be an issue but it wasn’t run over by an hour or two it was extremely lengthy. Islands themselves were nice, overcrowded compared to some we have gone to around Thailand.

Half-Day Trip to Khai Island – Fun but Felt Too Rushed - We took a half-day tour to Khai Island, and while the island itself was beautiful, the experience felt too rushed. Just as we started to relax and enjoy the surroundings, it was time to move again. It would have been much nicer to stay at one spot longer instead of constantly feeling like we were on a schedule. Another downside was the constant extra costs. From buying water shoes to paying to reserve a beach chair, it felt like everything was adding up. The additional sales pitches throughout the trip were a bit much, making the experience less relaxing than we had hoped. Looking back, it would have been better to go with a full-day, all-inclusive tour where everything is covered upfront. That way, you can truly enjoy the island without worrying about unexpected costs or feeling rushed. Despite that, it was still a good day out, and the scenery was stunning. If you’re planning to visit, I’d recommend going for a full-day package to make the most of it!

Not worth the trip to Khai Island due to all too many tourists and sand/sharp dead corals - Been to Khai Islands today on a half-day trip from Phuket. The drive to the harbor was long but it was informed in advance. When we booked the trip we asked about how the three Khai islands were and were told that they were not as crowded as the ex phi phi islands were and that was exactly what we wanted, a nice island experience with the possibility of snorkeling, swimming and relaxation. Unfortunately, the islands did not live up to any of this. They are overwhelmed with tourists that you can actually not even see the beauty of the island. There are water activities, a whirlwind of jet skiing. The first Khai Island was full of stones where it was supposed to be child-friendly. Skarp corals on the sand (and you were not informed about bathing shoes in the various brochures you can find on the various stands around in Phuket. The other island Khai where you can also stop by the beach was just as crowded with tourists. I don't even dare to think about what phi-phi islands are like. There were very few fish and unfortunately a completely dead coral reef! Food prices on the islands turn high ifht what else it costs. 1 phad tai, two nuggets and 1 pommes frites cost 1260 baht! This is very unfortunate, because when you sailed away from the island you could feel the beauty of the island. But as it is now, it's not worth the trip! We sailed with PH MARINE - they were super 👍🏼 good service, information, had free fruit and drinking with on the trip.

Don’t go - Poor communication on what was happening. Too many stops for a short tour. The islands are full of rubbish and they only take you there to make purchases. The workers on the island should be make to keep it neat.
