Fantasic scenery and an amazing hike - This was an absolutely fantastic hike with the most stunning scenery and an adventurous trail. Our guide, Daniela, was absolutely fantastic. Always enthusiastic, knowledgeable, friendly and she did an amazing job organising and feeding a group of 15 people. It is a challenging hike and you are at the mercy of Icelandic weather, so pack well!

Best trek ever made possible by Dani - We had the best time on the Laugavegur Trail! The trail itself is spectacular and cannot be beat. We chose this option even though we are very experienced hikers and could have planned it ourselves, but this made the logistics super easy. Who doesn’t love slackpacking? Having been on some tours in Iceland before, I honestly was worried the most about the guide. On other tours, it was clear that the guide was recycling the same jokes and bored of showing off Iceland. Not our guide Dani! It was very clear she was passionate about sharing this experience with us. Her positivity was endless and I learned a lot about the plants and geology from her along the way. I felt prepared for every day’s challenges and appreciated how she handled the task divvying up at the huts. She took the time to get to know all of us. The whole trek turned out better than expected and it was largely because of her!

Amazing time - What a trip!! 10/10. I went with my friends and Daniella made it the most amazing experience. Her positivity and enthusiasm never wavered over our 4 day trek. She was a ray of sunshine throughout the experience and also exhibited all the technical skills/knowledge to make you feel comfortable. I could not recommended the experience more ❤️

Excellent tour in epic surroundings. The guide was perfect. - Very enjoyable trip. We had one day of rain and this was in the highest region. The other 3 days were dry. Take your camera - the views are jaw dropping.

Laugavegur Trek with Gunni - This was an epic journey through dramatic landscapes. Our guide Gunni was great, attentive, knowledgeable and fun. He taught us not only about the terrain, fauna and flora, but also about Icelandic culture and mythology. Where else in the world can you find trolls standing on your path…

Exciting Type 2 Fun Adventure - The 4 day Laugavegur trek was an amazing experience! I was in a group at the end of the trekking season prior to winter starting. It was a group of 12 from a diverse range of countries.
Our guide, Dave, was excellent. He had a ton of experience trekking in Iceland, had excellent communication skills and was able to clearly provide the daily plan to the group. He also carried the backpack of one of the trekkers to assist with the pace of the trek where required. I would recommend Dave to any newcomer or experienced trekker coming to Iceland. He's also an excellent cook.
I am not a super experienced trekker, but I would note that although the trail itself is not technically difficult, the trek can be a mental battle. We got good but not great weather during the trek. It could be a lot worse. But for the weather we did get, it gets cold, wet and windy. I underestimated the weather, especially the wind. But, this adds to the experience if you are in the right frame of mind and can accept a bit of rain and wind. If you haven't done a lot of tenting before, this is NOT the place to learn. Too much wind. Do the huts instead; which are comfy but simplistic.
Make sure to pack river shoes. The river crossings are cold, but fun and an unforgettable experience!
The vistas are incredible and change day by day. Day 1 is a day hike in Landmannalauger, which is area covered in ryelite mountains with a distinct brown colour and lava fields. Day 2 is a long tough day through a mountain pass that ends with an amazing vista into the Alftavatn camp area. Day 3, Dave took us to an amazing 200m deep canyon. Day 4 ends in the beautiful area of Thorsmork (first sighting of trees on the trek) and a view of God's Land (which is an amazing view). You can stay for an additional 2 days as well in Thorsmork. I also recommend the Skogafoss Waterfall Trail on the other side of the mountain pass.

Disruptive Participant - The guide was amazing, informative, organized, and passionate. I wish I could give this trek 5 stars just for them. I completed my first hut to hut successfully and I am very grateful for their leadership.
The three stars is due to a fellow participant that was very disruptive. This person had a medical issue which led to extreme snoring. My understanding is that they utilized a cpap machine at home. While I firmly believe hiking is for everyone I also strongly believe that the needs of one person cannot put an entire group at higher risk for injury or falls. Everyone was sleep deprived for at least 3 days due to this issue. Headphones with white noise and ear plugs provided little if any relief.
I’m not sure what the solution to this issue is, especially in remote areas; however it greatly affected my experience.

No enough guides - Artic Adventures provides 1 guide per group of 16 people when it comes to the Luagavegur Trek. For me, this is a safety flag and something we weren't aware of when we booked.
We were a group of 16 participants and we had only 1 guide (who was amazing by the way). However, she had to stay in the lead position and our group encompassed ages 30s to 70s -- so you can well imagine that we spread out as we trekked. People at/near the back pretty much had to look after themselves. This was a huge safety concern and a worry for us as we trekked. We felt we had to push our pace so that we wouldn't fall behind. Our guide did her best, and waited at key points to ensure everyone caught up. However, as an experienced hiker, I would have assumed 2 guides for a group of 16 -- one in the lead and one in the back.
Our one guide not only led us but also organized all the cooking and pretty much did most of it although we all chipped in to help prep and do dishes. She was excellent but can only do so much with a group this size.
We also had a problem with Artic Adventures over a refund they owed us. Took many emails, phone calls and 2 months before we got a partial refund back.
