Highlights
  • Seljalandsfoss - South Coast Day Tour

Pick up at your hotel or Airbnb around 8:30 AM.

Seljalandsfoss Waterfall: Seljalandsfoss is a 60-meter high waterfall, beautifully situated and unique because you can experience it from behind. A path leads you around the waterfall, and standing behind it is a rare and special experience. However, on very cold days, the path may be closed due to ice, but you can still enjoy the stunning icy landscape.

  • Skogafoss - Skógafoss Waterfall: Skógafoss is one of Iceland’s most famous waterfalls. It is also 60 meters high and about 25 meters wide. Both Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss are fed by glacier rivers, with meltwater from Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull. Eyjafjallajökull is well-known for its massive 2010 volcanic eruption that disrupted air traffic in Europe.

  • Solheimajokull Glacier - Sólheimajökull Glacier: Sólheimajökull is an outlet glacier flowing from the Mýrdalsjökull ice cap. Beneath Mýrdalsjökull lies the famous Katla volcano. Glaciers are retreating and disappearing at an unprecedented rate, and it is predicted that in a few decades, Iceland’s glaciers will be gone.

  • Dyrhólaey - At Dyrhólaey, there is an incredible view of the south coast landscape and black beaches. Dyrhólaey is a 120-meter high promontory eroded by the sea from the headland. In summer, Dyrhólaey is rich in birdlife, especially puffins.

  • Reynisfjara Beach - Reynisdrangar and Reynisfjara Black Beach: Iceland is a volcanic island, primarily composed of basaltic material that is black in color, hence the “Black Beaches.” In 1991, the black beach was ranked as one of the ten most beautiful non-tropical beaches in the world. The beach features remarkable basalt columns. Reynisdrangar is a sea stack, a geological formation created by wave erosion of the surrounding material.

  • Volcano Eyjafjallajokull - Hopefully, the weather will allow a view of the Eyjafjallajökull volcano, famous for its 2010 eruption.

  • Vik - Vík: The village of Vík is a small village south of the Mýrdalsjökull glacier. A visit to Vík is the perfect end to our amazing tour of the south.
