- Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain - This Rainbow Mountain day tour adventure will begin with a pick up from your hotel in Cusco early at the morning 4:00am to 4:30am. Then, we’ll drive to Cusipata town about 2 hours, here we’ll enjoy our delicious buffet breakfast, after this we’ll be heading to Llactoc village (4620m/15157ft) driving about an hour, this is the beginning of our hike following the path for about 1:30 hours to reach the Rainbow Mountain (5,036m / 16,522ft). Along the hike your guide will show you some traditions of the local people, working hard to earn some money. You will be amazed by the stunning views once you reach the summit. Here you’ll take your own time to capture the incredible photos while your guide will be explaining you about the colors and the snow peak mountains surrounding, also at your background you will see the highest mountain peak of Cusco The Ausangate Mountain (6385m / 20948ft ) after exploring this unique place you will have the option to hike towards the impressive Red Valley place that looks like Mars. Finally we’ll take the same way to return towards the bus station, board the bus to reach the restaurant, after lunch we drive back to Cusco.

Early bird gets the views without the hoards! - Carlos our amazing guide was on time, well organized, fun, funny, and really informative. This tour allowed us to be the first on the mountain so we could take amazing photos and enjoy the scenery without the hoards of people arriving later. We added the Red Valley and it was well worth it, though others didn’t join I would say they missed out. This is the only tour I would recommend due to the early timing. Great day thanks to Carlos and his team

Amazing trip - Urbano was fantastic and did great with my kids as well. Exceptional guide with a fun personality. Breakfast & lunch were buffets and delicious. Very well prepared with lots of traditional options. Great trip with scenic views to the trail head.

Breathtaking - I met Vidal when I did the Inca Trail some years ago. This time, my boyfriend and I decided to visit Cusco together and of course Vidal Expeditions was our choice to visit the Rainbow Mountain. Vidal was our guide and he was very helpful and made us feel comfortable all the time during the trip. He adapted to our needs in the best possible way, always with a big smile and professionalism. Our trip to the Rainbow Mountain with Vidal Expeditions was simply amazing and we will not hesitate to contact them next time we are in Cusco.

Just do it! 100% recommended - Just amazing! Our driver Alex and Urbano our guide were the best! The rainbow mountains are pretty spectacular, they recommend us to leave early (before 4 am) to avoid crowds and get a better view, totally worth it! Urbano was supportive all the way to the top and back, always looking out for us, providing interesting facts and taking beautiful pictures! Totally recommend it! Congratulations on the experiences you provide 🧡

Must Do Hike! - Chino was the best guide! We had a group of 5, and he was so encouraging and kind. While the initial part of the journey would be totally unremarkable at a lower altitude, we really appreciated the frequent stops. Chino frequently checked in with us to see how we were feeling. He also gave great advice for taking deep breaths and had other tricks to help us deal with the altitude. After we made it to the top, Chino was endlessly patient, encouraging us to wait a few minutes for the clouds to pass so we could get better pictures. Then he was the best photographer EVER! I remember seeing many, many tour companies offering this hike, and I am so glad I picked Vidal Expeditions

A fantastic day at Vinicunca mountain (Rainbow mountain). - We had a wonderful day at the Rainbow mountain. Even if clouds were covering the mountain at some point, our guide proposed to wait a little bit and a few minutes later we had the chance to see it all, the mountain, the valley and even the Ausangate mountain. Chino, our guide, was really great. He adapted the walk to the mountain to make sure everyone could reach the top. He was answering our questions, giving us informations about the region and the country. We highly recommand Chino.

Great communications, great tours - We did 3 tours with Vidal Expeditions. Communications prior with owner Vidal were clear and efficient via WhatsApp. Our group of 4 (including a 6 yo and a 73 yo) did the Machu Picchu half day tour, Rainbow Mountain full day and Sacred Valley full day. For transportation, the vans provided were super clean, air-conditioned and comfortable. Our guides were knowledgeable and caring. We highy recommend Urbano! Thank you Vidal Expeditions for a great time!

Misleading description - This tour is very clearly advertised as a private tour as says "On this private tour from Cusco, see the colorful strata after a moderately difficult hike." When I got to Cusco the tour company called at night to let me know this was not a private tour and I had to pay extra if I wanted a private tour. When I complained they said that's how viator had set it up. I have complained to Viator twice and have asked them to correct the mistake on their page and still no change. They did however provide a partial refund. Since there was not time to book another tour we took it, but were not happy with it not being a private tour. I will leave this for a couple of more weeks and if their page is not corrected I will report this to FTC. Viator has been a good company to me and I have booked may tours with them, but if they have blatant mistake and refuse to fix it after being warned twice then they will have to answer to FTC. At any rate, BEFORE BOOKING THIS TRIP CALL THEM TO ENSURE IT IS A PRIVATE TOUR, NOT A GROUP ONE.
