Ha Giang - Situated amidst the picturesque landscapes of northern Vietnam, Ha Giang City serves as the enchanting starting point of the famous Ha Giang Loop. As a lively urban center and the capital of Ha Giang Province, it warmly welcomes travelers beginning this multi-day journey from Hanoi to discover the province’s natural splendor, ethnic diversity, and rich culture.
Quan Ba Heaven Gate - Ascending through the Quan Ba Pass, travelers will encounter the Twin Mountains, also known as the Fairy Mountains. These two hills resemble a pair of breasts and have inspired numerous local legends and tales. The Quan Ba Pass itself provides a viewpoint for some of the most breathtaking vistas along the route.
Dinh Vua Meo - The Hmong King’s Palace is a two-story wooden mansion offering a fascinating glimpse into the history of the Hmong people. The building is an architectural wonder, and the artifacts inside narrate stories of a bygone era.
Dong Van - Concluding this segment of the loop is Dong Van Old Quarter, a marketplace that transports visitors back in time. With its cobblestone streets, antique shops, and vibrant local atmosphere, the Old Quarter offers an authentic experience of life in this remote part of Vietnam.
Dong Van - Ma Pi Leng Pass - Nho Que River - Bao Lac
Ma Pi Leng Pass - The Ma Pi Leng Pass is the most remarkable mountain pass in Vietnam, standing at an altitude of 1,500 meters. It is located between Dong Van and Meo Vac, two towns in the far north of Vietnam in Ha Giang Province, near the border with China. It is the most stunning mountain road in all of Vietnam.
It runs along the paved national road 4C, known as “The Happiness Road.” The road was constructed in the 60s by numerous workers, primarily ethnic minorities from the region. It took 11 years to complete the entire road.
It is renowned as the King of Vietnamese mountain passes. The route is lined with cliffs and abysses, and features enough hairpin bends to make one dizzy. The road along the mountainside offers a romantic, breathtaking landscape that is perfect for motorcycling. The ascent to the top, often called “the Great Wall of Vietnam,” feels like a scene from a fairy tale.
Nho Que River - Flowing at the base of the Ma Pi Leng Pass, the Nho Que River enhances the area’s enchanting beauty. Descend to the river and embark on a boat trip through the majestic canyon, surrounded by towering cliffs.
Bao Lac - Bao Lac is primarily visited by tourists traveling from Ha Giang to Cao Bang. If time permits, spend a full day or two here to explore some of the most authentic villages of ethnic minorities, impressive mountains and mountain passes, stunning rice fields, and unique cultures.
Bao Lac - Ban Gioc Waterfall - Nguom Ngao Cave
Ban Gioc Waterfall - Detian Falls - Ban Gioc Waterfalls is one of the grandest and most captivating waterfalls in Vietnam. Located within Dam Thuy Commune, approximately 335 kilometers from Hanoi, the falls lie on the border between China’s Guangxi and Vietnam’s Cao Bang.
Nguom Ngao Cave - Situated just 5 kilometers from the renowned Ban Gioc Waterfall, Nguom Ngao Cave is a natural marvel that offers a glimpse into the fascinating geological history of northern Vietnam. This cave, also known as Tiger Cave, is a delightful extra stop for travelers visiting the nearby waterfall.
Phuc Sen Forging Village - Angel Eye Mountain - Cao Bang - Hanoi
Phuc Sen Forging Village - Phuc Sen forging village of the Nung An is located at the foot of Pác Rằng mountain, about 40 km from Cao Bang city on the way to Ban Gioc, one of Vietnam’s most magnificent waterfalls. Approximately 150 forges are constantly operating to produce durable farm tools.
Mắt Thần Nui - Nui Thung mountain, also known as Angel Eye mountain, remains a relatively unknown destination, just 30 km from Cao Bang City and 70 km from Ban Gioc waterfall. Not only is the mountain worth a day trip, but the entire area, with Thang Hen Lake, villages, mountains, and rice fields, all nestled in a hidden valley called Tuyet Tinh Coc.
