ARRIVAL TO CUYABENO
Cuyabeno Reserve - Today, your Amazon Cuyabeno Adventure starts. You can take a flight (9:15 am) or take a bus (trip the night before the tour which takes about 8 hours) to the Cuyabeno Bridge which is the starting point of the tour. From here, you will have a canoe trip down the Cuyabeno River to the lodge. Visit the Laguna Grande to swim and enjoy the sunset. Exciting night walk through the rainforest.
HIKING DAY
Cuyabeno Reserve - In the morning you will go for a three hours hike in the primary forest to learn about the flora and fauna, especially to know about medicinal plants, frogs, insects, birds, etc. Relaxing time just after lunch, in the afternoon you will go for a canoe exploration on the Lagoons to enjoy the flooded forest. Where you can swim and enjoy the sunset. If conditions permit, you may be able to see pink dolphins. Return to lodge afterwards.
COMMUNITY DAY
Cuyabeno Reserve - Visit the Community Siona Tarabeaya where you can see the preparation of the traditional bread Casabe and the naturalist guide will explain about the culture and traditions of the native people. Visit the Shaman, who will explain about the ceremonies in the jungle. Return to camp.
CUYABENO – QUITO
Cuyabeno Reserve - In the last day of your Amazon Cuyabeno tour, you will go bird watching early in the morning. After that you will navigate the Cuyabeno River back to the Cuyabeno Bridge. From here, you will return to Quito by bus or plane (05:00 pm). Box lunch is included.

This Amazon Cuyabeno program is designed for adventurous travelers who love to experience nature without being disturbed by cell phones or wifi. You will stay at a simple eco-lodge with fresh water, normal toilets, comfortable beds and a common chill out place. You will have three meals a day on long tables together with the other guests. Activities during these days vary between wildlife spotting by canoe, hiking, and swimming.
- Private bus transportation from Quito to the Cuyabeno Bridge can be arranged for: $ 30 p.p. one way. It includes one meal (breakfast for arrival or a snack for return).
- Flights are not recommended, but if you want to take a flight, we recommend to take a flight one day before your tour starts to Lago Agrio.
- When you take a flight, we recommend booking the return flight after 15.00 pm.
- Some activities depend on weather conditions such as Caiman watching.
- Please bring your own rain poncho. In the Amazon, the weather could change suddenly in the rainforest and you might get wet.
- Please take with you some plastic bags, to protect your camera and important documents; a headlight, because at night it becomes very dark; and a bottle of water.
- The operator reserves the right to change the itinerary without previous notice due to weather, National Park regulations or notifications and unforeseeable circumstances.
- Inform yourself about food safety when traveling to tropical countries. Take the necessary precaution to avoid food poisoning (always wash your hands before eating, don’t eat ‘street food’, only eat peeled fruits, etc.).
- The operator cannot take any responsibility for any illnesses or missed meals & tours due to an illness.
