Rainbow Mountain ATV Tour Experience - A Thrill Ride to One of Peru’s Greatest Wonders - When I first heard about Rainbow Mountain in Peru, I knew I had to see it for myself. But the thought of a strenuous 3-hour hike at over 5,030 meters above sea level made me hesitant. That's when I discovered the ATV tour option and I can honestly say it turned out to be one of the most exciting and rewarding experiences of my trip to Peru. The day started early with a hotel pickup in Cusco around 4:00 AM. Although waking up that early wasn’t easy, the ride through the Andes was serene and beautiful. As the sky lightened, we passed small villages, herds of alpacas, and misty mountain peaks. After about 3 hours on the road, we stopped for a light breakfast in a local village — nothing fancy, but warm and comforting before the ride. When we arrived at the ATV base, we were greeted by friendly guides who gave us safety instructions and a quick demonstration. I’d never driven an ATV before, but they made sure I felt confident before we hit the trail. Helmets, gloves, and basic training were all included. Once we started riding, the adventure really kicked in. The path took us through wide, open highlands surrounded by majestic peaks and colorful valleys. Riding an ATV at high altitude was a new experience, the air was thin, and the scenery was unlike anything I’ve ever seen. The road was bumpy in places but manageable, and the entire route felt like something out of a dream. Herds of alpacas wandered nearby, and the quiet of the mountains gave the whole ride a peaceful yet thrilling vibe. After about an hour on the ATV, we reached the parking area where the hike to Rainbow Mountain begins. Thankfully, it’s only a 20–30 minute walk from there, but the altitude definitely made it feel more intense. Our guides were amazing, offering oxygen for anyone who needed it and setting a steady pace so no one felt rushed. When we finally reached the summit, the view was absolutely worth every second of the journey. Rainbow Mountain was even more vibrant in person with streaks of red, yellow, green, and purple running across the slope. It’s one of those places that photos just don’t do justice. We had plenty of time to take pictures, catch our breath, and enjoy the view before heading back. The ride back on the ATV was just as fun, with the added bonus of being more confident behind the wheel. Once we returned to the base, we had a buffet-style lunch in a nearby town, simple but delicious, especially after a long day. Thanks Jorge and Gringo Tours!

🌈 great Rainbow Mountain experience - Great experience, rainy season and we were so lucky for a fine day. The bikes were well maintained and there was a circuit to do a test ride after some instruction. Guide at back and front. Safe for beginners and a nice ride for experienced riders who want to avoid the hike up. Jose our guide was brilliant all day and a special mention to his photography skills, he knew all the right angles and helped anyone who wanted it. Nice breakfast and lunch to compliment the long drive from Cusco. If you want iconic rainbow mountain pictures, I highly recommend this company and experience.

We get to the mountain of colors EASY - An experience that allows us to recommend it to everyone, it was a way to get there easily. The pick-up was on time from our hotel, the transportation was very clean and the food was very delicious. In general we liked everything, especially the guide who was very informative throughout the trip.

An excellent day trip - We found this to be an alternative to the hiking tour and immediately decided to do this. Marco was very nice and accommodating. He was truly passionate in sharing the local traditions and culture and his attention to details was simply fantastic. The tour included transport, breakfast and lunch so it was quite a package.

Fun adventure with lack of translation - Overall the experience seeing rainbow mountain was great. We had bad communication with happy gingo. Originally was to leave at 430am was pushed back 0600. After picking up several more groups. Was suppose to have English speaking guide. He translated to the 6 English speaking after spending more time talking to the rest of the Spanish speaking group. We felt like we were not told anything. The quad bikes were fun. We stopped for breakfast and lunch at the same restaurant. The breakfast was good but the lunch was cold. At the end of the trip we were dropped off at some square we had no idea where we were at. We booked as an English speaking group.

Probably an honest mistake - I feel that I am too a partial refund I paid a lot of money to go on a ATV tour and the guy made me walk and I kept asking him when do I get to ride the ATV I walked all the way up this mountain and when we got to the top I asked him again what do I get to ride the ATV and then he said something about you have to pay extra for that and I told him I paid $150 US and then he looked on his phone and figured out he made a mistake but I feel that I'm too apart from refund

Happy Gringo: never again!!! - Happy gringo, maybe the gringo is happy, it wasn't us. I've never seen such a misorganization in all my travels. All that was very kindly promised one day before the tour at the office was waste the next day. Neither the confirmed pick-up at the hotel, nor the departure time, nor the daily schedule were observed. And the English of the supposedly bilingual guide was never comprehensible (and with important safety instructions). We felt totally screwed. Happy Gringo: never again!!!
