So glad we booked this tour! - We booked this tour as an excursion during the Porta Maya stop of our Western Caribbean cruise. Our guide was animated and fiercely, our driver was excellent, and the destinations were well worth the price of the excursion! We loved seeing the Chacchoben Mayan Ruins, so interesting! Bacalar Lagoon was more beautiful than I imagined! The guide took us to was a lovely private grassy area with beach chairs, a pavilion, a pier, and kayaks/life jackets. The lake was stunning and there were cute piers/beach houses half hidden in the shore of lush vegetation. When we first arrived at the area, there was a delicious hot lunch of chicken and pork tacos, piña colada‘s, and other drinks waiting for us. There was also a bathroom and changing room. Everything about the scene was so peaceful and pleasant. They allotted just the right amount of time to eat lunch, relax, and paddle up and down the shoreline for a little while before we had to head back to our cruise.

Mayan History at its Best - This was a great tour & not difficult to find our guides. The transportation was very nice with great AC. Our tour guides were extremely knowledgeable & enjoyed sharing the culture & history of the Mayan peoples, as well as current history of the area. From our guide on our first bus, to Eric, our guide at the ruins, the sincerity & appreciation of the Mayan culture was shared & gifted to us as a treasure. We really had a wonderful time. Our lunch/lagoon experience was equally lovely & our hosts were kind & generous. Very glad we chose this tour.

They still with us all the way to the end they even carried my drunk as back on the bus. Costa maya - We had a long drive to the Mayan ruins. The guide was very knowledgeable. It was interesting to see the ruins and learn the history. From there we were taken to a resort on the 7 colors lagoon. We were the only one there. That part was just ok.

Tour Guide was disappointing - The trip was disappointing as the guide assigned to us told us to meet him at a spot in the ruins and then proceeded to go to another location and complete the session without 4 of our group members The Bacalar Lagoon section was not clear that swimming and or canoeing was available and we did not come prepared for that

Poor customer service and horrible bus! - When we arrived to the check-in point we were told that the water was brown at their normal resort so they were taking us somewhere else for the lagoon portion of the adventure. Didn’t think anything of it at the time but I can assure you where they took us was nothing like what was in the photos we saw on their site. While on the bus to the ruins there was dripping water from the top over a bunch of seats. It wasn’t horrible for most except for one teen who had water regularly pouring on him. The tour of the ruins was good, we were all happy with our tour guide Lorenzo. I was disappointed when we were split into groups after that and the people going to the lagoon were going with another guide (I think Jose) instead. Hopped back on the bus for the long journey to the lagoon. Upon arrival it started raining a bit but we all got off the bus and got our first ‘free’ drink. We didn’t even get to start eating our lunch when the skies opened up. It was a downpour and there was VERY limited area of protection. Some guests had use of umbrellas but only a handful of all of us that were there. Not sure what made them so lucky. I was in a smaller group standing like a pack of sardines in the life jacket hut as we watched the pouring rain and lightning. A couple of people went to get food but there was only a few inches of overhang to stand under. There was also a ‘tent’ which turned out to simply be a sun shade as it didn’t provide any protection from the rain. Others were standing in the bathroom and some simply ran back to the bus. Jose and a few other employees were nicely protected under their umbrellas but didn’t do anything to offer to walk customers to the food, bring another drink or better yet, walk them back to the bus. After awhile, with no letup in the rain the entire bus load decided we’d get back on the bus and leave. It was a complete fend for yourself ordeal with a bit of an uphill through the mud and running water in the pouring rain. As my daughter and I were walking towards the bus while covering our heads with life jackets I saw an employee walking toward the food hut holding an open umbrella and about 6 other closed umbrellas on her arm. I asked if we could use those to get to the bus and she looked at me like I had 3 heads. She said, well, I’ll need to get them…OK, then walk to the bus after me with your already open umbrella and get them!!! Without waiting for any further response, I took two from her arm and we walked up to the bus. On the bus ride back many were all covered with our towels as we were cold and wet…oh, and hungry as we didn’t get any food. Even though we didn’t get to take advantage of it, the lagoon area looked like the something from the other side of the tracks. Not a welcoming or resort feel as described. Then it proceeded to be an hour and twenty minute bus ride back. The poor folks sitting under what looked like the TV screens were getting literally soaked with dirty water. It wasn’t a drip it was a full deluge of water for the entire trip. To top it off, towards the end, the bus needed to pull to the side of the road because the door opened and they couldn’t get it shut! That seems super safe!!! Understanding the tour company can’t control the weather, they can certainly control where they take us, the customer service of their staff and the quality of the transportation they provide. I was appalled that one staff member didn’t want to provide us with umbrellas that weren’t being used and others simply stood at the bar with umbrellas for themselves and not once did the guide or the bus driver try to do anything about the water pouring into the bus nor did they ever even comment about it. Lastly, the description of the tour should have better explained how much time would be spent on a bus. It only mentioned the initial 50 minutes to the ruins, not the additional 30+ minutes to the lagoon and most certainly not the hour and twenty minutes back from there. I might have selected my excursion differently as we spent many hours of the day on the bus.

Awful Customer Service, money scams. - This company is not accommodating when you’re traveling with kids. Upon booking the excursion in the special references I provided a time frame of which my family and I could disembark the boat and asked to them to inform us if we can still go on the excursion or should we look into something else. I was never contact regarding the time I gave and they proceeded to book us on the excursion. When we arrive the disembarking the boat was lengthy and the port takes 20 mins to walk through, longer than any of the other ports we visited. When we finally arrived at the site outside of the port where they asked us to meet the tour was gone. They only have one tour bus and we were told there would be no reimbursement or tour we could take.
