Recommended 100% - The best idea we could have had was to take this tour. Randall has a love of what he does and incredible knowledge. Family business they look after carefully. His mother makes an exquisite married man and they have a respect for his horses and exemplary nature. We would recommend one and a thousand times

The Greatest Activity! An absolute MUST! - My family and I visited Rancho Tipico Don Juan after hearing rave reviews, and our experience with Luis and his family surpassed every expectation we had! From the moment Luis picked us up in his van, his infectious energy and genuine kindness shone through. Not only was he incredibly responsive and communicative, but his gentlemanly demeanor and patience with our group of eight were remarkable. During our ride to the ranch, Luis overheard us mention my cousin’s birthday and made discreet and special detour to buy a cake for her, adding a heartfelt touch to our day. When we arrived at the ranch, we were greeted by a paradise of lush greenery, charming animals, and breathtaking waterfalls. The horses were gentle and friendly, setting the stage for an unforgettable adventure. Luis and his father, the esteemed Don Juan, ensured our comfort and enjoyment throughout the journey. As we explored the stunning landscape, wading through waters and traversing muddy trails, Luis shared his deep knowledge of the land and his family's conservation efforts. Riding through the hills, feeling the cool breeze, and experiencing the warm rain was truly magical. Luis’s passion for Costa Rica and nature was evident, and his skill as a photographer added an extra layer of enjoyment. He captured beautiful moments of our family as we rode, making sure we had lasting memories of this enchanting day. We also hiked to see the awe-inspiring Ceiba tree, spotted an owl and a toucan, and swam in a refreshing waterfall—a perfect highlight of our adventure. The day concluded with a delicious, home-cooked Costa Rican meal of rice, beans, plantains, and your choice of fish or chicken, enjoyed with a view of the ranch. Luis’s surprise cake for my cousin was the cherry on top of an already perfect day. This adventure was, without a doubt, the highlight of our Costa Rican trip. We are still talking about the ranch and horses. I can’t recommend Rancho Tipico Don Juan enough and am forever grateful to Luis and his family for creating such unforgettable memories for us. P.S. - If you ride Flash, please send him my love.

Favourite Tour - Incredible! If you love exploring and animals this is the tour for you! We travelled across creeks and hills on our horses while learning all about the history of the land. We saw toucans and squirrel monkeys, our guide was super knowledgeable and made sure we were comfortable. We got off the horses to explore a beautiful waterfall and walk through the jungle. We got to swim in it too! We ended with a delicious costa rican lunch overlooking the mountains. Overall a beautiful experience and one of my favourite excursions we did in costa rica.

Wonderful Family-Friendly Adventure - We had an incredible morning with Randall and his family. Our kids loved every moment and we did too! The horses were so gentle and well cared for, and Randall’s passion for his land and country was inspiring. There’s a reason this tour has 5 stars from so many people.

Once in a Lifetime Experience 🤙🏼 Pura Vida - Randall is amazing. He picked me up at my Airbnb in Quepos. His family ranch where he grew up is the most pristine eco-diverse property one ever seen. (pictures don't do it justice) Randall gives the rich history of the land, unforgettable horseback riding (horses were strong and gentle) we had a small hike in the beautiful forest. The waterfall adventure was magical. Ending with the most beautiful view and authentic homemade meal. He also took photos for everyone. Which I loved because I'm on a solo trip. Thank you for your and your family's hospitality. I will treasure the memory made at your ranch. Pura Vida

My first time riding in Costa Rica - The tour starts with being picked up and talking to Rendall (guide) and the other participants on the way to the ranch. Rendall tells a few stories from Costa Rica and comments on what is happening on the streets 😄😄. Thus one has long warmed up with Rendall until the actual event. Once at the ranch there's a short briefing and then it starts with the horses (who wants to get a helmet - nobody is forced). The riding tour goes over sticks and stones, up and down the mountain and leads through streams as well as muddy marsh-like passages (leave Sunday shoes in the closet). I would argue that full riding experience for beginners is covered with it. The landscape is picture book-like and reminded me a lot of the Netflix series Narcos 😄. Anyone who has never ridden before will also feel that a horse can sometimes have its own head - is just not a moped. After about half the ride there is a short hike through the forest on the ranch + drinking break (water is provided by Rendall). On the way back we will go to the big highlight of the tour - the waterfall (preferably arrive in swimming trunks). During the tour, Rendall also talks a lot about nature, the ecosystem and points out animals you encounter while riding (birds, caimans, frogs in my case). Subsequently, there is then a common Food a la Costa Rica (cooked by the mother) with great views. The tour is family friendly, safe and highly recommended.
