Worth every penny and then some! - We booked this tour at the last minute, choosing based on reviews. They did not steer us wrong! Our guide, Diego, provided great instructions about parking and finding him. We chose the small group tour and it was just us plus one other couple. Diego was an AMAZING guide!!! His passion for and knowledge of the flora and fauna in the park was impressive (he grew up in the park with his tour guide mom)! We not only saw a sloth, we saw a 3-toed about 8 feet from us and a 2-toed baby up in a palm! Plus black iguana, bats, capuchin monkeys right in front of us, two really cool spiders, a toucan and other birds... He provided info about the area, biology of the animals and their relationships with the plants, and was just a fun guy to hang out with! Don’t make the same mistake as the many people wandering through the park without a guide (Diego)! I guarantee they saw and learned very little in comparison.

Milton made an amazing park even more amazing! - We went on a mangrove boat tour with Milton and enjoyed it so much we saw Manuel Antonio with him the following day. He was instrumental in helping us navigate the confusion of the SINAC website to purchase advance tickets (Do this the day before if possible!) But most of all, he was a GREAT guide through the park's flora and fauna. Decades of experience plus a true enthusiasm for nature, plus a sharp eye, meant we were seeing so many amazing hidden things packed into a couple short hours. It was almost too much to digest, although the Cordyceps fungus was having no trouble digesting the poor zombie butterfly he found-- this is a once per 2-3 year rarity to see. Other guides were astonished when he called them over to share. On a happier note, we spied creatures ranging from a sloth moving high in the canopy, a pair of bats tucked deep into a tent made of a large leaf, monkeys, sleeping owls, exotic spiders, iguanas, a sleeping red eyed frog, and milk wasps. I was interested to learn that Milton is a certified guide, meaning he had to take many courses for each region of the country where he tours. It shows in the depth of his knowledge. After the tour, he left us at the beaches inside the park. They were truly lovely (we were alone on the deserted right side beach) but bear in mind that at 3pm the rangers blow a whistle and impatiently force you back toward the exit. The consolation prize for this that you'll see even more along the long boardwalk path through the mangroves as you make your way to the exit - we spied another sloth (thanks to Milton who taught us to look near the tops of trees), iguanas, a coati, and a bunch of monkeys traveling among the trees vines. Oh I forgot to mention- like most guides, Milton had a cool telescope on a tripod which made the animals SO much more detailed to see. He took photos with my phone through the scope- a few attached. DO: go with a guide. You will see so much more. We recommend Milton without hesitation! DON'T: wait to the last minute to buy your entry tickets. Bring disposable plastic water bottles (refillable is ok), food, or anything to smoke.

Manuel Antonio Tour - Diego did an amazing job engaging with the whole family, kids included to help them see the park through expert eyes. The sounds and animals were all an amazing experience. We had fun the whole time and saw animals we wouldn’t have been able to spot alone. It was well worth the time and made the day so special.

Don't take the trail for free: Diego the best! - A 10, we saw in 50 meters all the animals that we had not seen in two weeks, thanks to Diego and being able to use the telescope was great to see everything well, as well as was taking the photos and finally sent them to us. It makes me wonder how he kept marveling at the beauty of all the fauna and how he explained it, when it is supposed to be something that for him is part of his day to day 💚

Brilliant wildlife with Diego - Diego made sure we saw the best of Manuel Antonio! Lots of reptiles, amphibians, spiders, insects, mammals, birds, monkeys and managed to spot a mother sloth with her baby. He gave lots of great information and there is absolutely no way we would have seen 1/10th of the wildlife without his eagle eyes! Massive recommend!

Watch out for scammers - Unfortunately, we never made it into the park. Just prior to the entry point we were met by several subjects wearing what looked like official uniforms. They tried to make us buy their tickets for more than double the fee for the cost of the tours. Then pay them for parking and other fees. It was my fault for not researching the park and tour prior to trying to enter, but I don't want someone else to make the same mistake. If you see someone trying to stop you on the road to the park, drive right by them. Do not stop. Really was upsetting we didn't get into the park. It looks amazing online.
