• Mud Volcanoes - Mud volcanoes

A notable geological feature of the region is the abundance of mud volcanoes. A charming dirt road leads to the active craters. According to legend, djinn inhabit these areas. The volcanic mud, primarily composed of blue clay, creates a lunar-like landscape. The anticipation of witnessing even more fascinating landscapes is the only solace for tourists reluctant to leave this surreal spectacle.

• Gobustan Rock Art - Gobustan National Reserve: a modern museum-exposition.

The next stop on the Gobustan journey is what makes it famous worldwide. It hosts the largest primitive human settlement on the planet – the village of the first Cro-Magnons, preserved since ancient times. Initially, guests prepare to encounter the Paleolithic era in the modern museum, which presents the history of these places and the lives of our prehistoric ancestors.

• Gobustan Rock Art - Gobustan National Reserve: Petroglyphs.
  After the historical introduction at the museum, guests of Azerbaijan Travel International explore the heritage of the primitives. The primary legacy they left is rock paintings. Following the excursion trail among the majestic rocks against the backdrop of the Caspian Sea coast, observing various petroglyphs and listening to the guide’s narrative, tourists seem to witness the intellectual evolution of Homo Sapiens. The harsh living conditions of prehistoric people, their survival instincts, community hierarchy, daily life, and aspirations become clear, and our contemporary realizes that we and our ancestors differ only in adornments.   The first part of the tour concludes with a visit to the living areas of the first Cro-Magnons, and guests return to Baku.
• Bibi-Heybat Mosque - On the return journey, visitors can also see the Bibi-Heybat mosque, constructed by Shirvanshah Abu-l-Fath Farrukhzad in the 13th century. The interior’s vibrant colors and the majestic facade are not all! This beautiful architectural monument also offers views of the Caspian Sea and the towering cranes of the nearby cargo port.
• Narimanov - Stop at the Restaurant, Lunch time

In one of the capital’s central parks, guests are welcomed by the set tables of one of the city’s most delightful restaurants – the Baku restaurant.
After enjoying a three-course lunch of national cuisine and a traditional cup of tea, guests embark on the second part of the tour – a trip to the Absheron Peninsula.

• Ateshgah - Fire Temple - Surakhany Village: Temple of Fire Worshippers.

In the first century BC, Hindu Brahmanites and Persian Zoroastrians learned of an intriguing feature in the land called Absheron – natural flames emerging from the ground. Ateshgah Temple was established where these natural fires were most concentrated.
At that time, the Great Silk Road passed through this land, so in addition to the temple, there was also a caravanserai, an inn for traveling merchants. Guests will learn about the lives of the fire-worshipping hermits and their merchant neighbors staying in the caravanserai through the guide’s captivating story. This narrative is enhanced with numerous installations illustrating the beliefs and daily life of ancient fire cults.

• Yanardagh reservation - Kazar region, Yanardagh Reserve (Burning Mountain)

Of the several dozen burning sites on Absheron’s lands, only one remains today. Near the summit of the most remote mountain of the Great Caucasian Ridge, an eternal flame has been burning for centuries. The mountain is named Burning in its honor, which translates to Yanardag in Azerbaijani.
In this final part of the “Gobustan-Absheron” tour, guests will witness the ancient flame, and from the observation deck at the top of Yanardag, they can view a third of the Absheron peninsula.

  The Gobustan-Absheron tour, organized by Azerbaijan Travel International, spans from morning to evening, and approximately 9 hours after its commencement, the bus with tourists returns to Baku.
