Playa Hermosa - Manzanillo Beach Road
We decide the time and location of the lesson the day before, based on the ocean conditions. The most likely spot is Playa Hermosa (4 km from the town of Santa Teresa). We will meet in the main parking lot.

10/10 surf experience! - I can’t stress this enough - Alvaro is the BEST! As a beginner surfer, trust is paramount. Leaning to surf can be a daunting task, and you are in such good hands with Alvaro and team.
The instruction is thorough and tailored to each student’s needs and progression. By the end of my five day trip i had graduated from beginner basics to working on turns, and catching my own waves on a much lighter board. 10/10 experience. Already planning my next trip 🤙🏼

I never want to learn surfing from anyone else! - There is no one better to learn surfing from than Alvaro and his crew! I was a total beginner the first time I had a lesson with them and all the teachers are just amazing. Alvaro is a very thorough and straightforward teacher, and covers everything so you can learn to surf fast but also safely. I’ve been back to take is lessons at Playa Hermosa twice now and I’m already excited for next years trip. They’re the kind of teachers that make you want to get better!

Incredible surf lessons! - Alvaro is the best surf instructor I’ve worked with hands down! I’ve been working with Alvaro for a total of about six weeks over the last five years. His vast experience, patience and passion took my wife and I from complete beginners to surfing out in the line up in three days. Out in the line up Alvaro gives feedback and instructions on reading waves, paddling, line up protocol and safety and much more. All with incredible patience and a true desire to help you become a surfer. My son and I just spent 9 excellent days with Alvaro. In that time my son went from catching knee high waves to catching over head waves and beginning to make turns on them. My son fully trusted Alvaro 100%.
The best thing about Alvaro is that he truly cares about helping his clients become surfers.
I highly recommend him!

Incredible Surf Experience - Alvaro and his team were absolutely incredible. We had a group of 8 novice surfers ranging from 8-50 years olds. The kids and adults had an equally great time. We had a max of two students to one teacher, and often 1 on 1 for when someone needed additional focus. This was my 4th instructor over the years and Alvaro's crew was a cut above the rest. They can get you up on the board if you are total rookie or teach you how to swim past the breakers with the bigger waves! You absolutely cant go wrong with Alvaro and his crew!!

Amazing! - I took my first surf lesson ever here during spring break with 2 friends - we had the best time ever! Our instructor Alvaro was so friendly, good at explaining, and so encouraging during the lesson. He was also super flexible with times! I went back a second time a few days later because I loved it so much, highly recommend.

Top Notch Lesson! - Alvaro was an amazing teacher! We spent 95% of the time in the water and were able to catch on quite quick based on some great tips!
Would highly recommend for first timers or even surfers who’ve been in the water but need a few good pointers to start improving.

Surfing fun for beginners and advanced - We felt comfortable from the beginning. Alvaro gave us a clear introduction with valuable tips. You notice that he has a trained eye and thus corrects errors even during dry exercises. This allowed them to enjoy success on the first day. Alvaro is empathetic and responds to individual needs.

Best surf lessons ever. Highly recommend - Alvaro was the best surf instructor I could have asked for. He is incredibly didactic and practical, always providing valuable tips and encouraging me to improve with every session. Thanks to his lessons in Playa Hermosa, in just two weeks, I progressed from a complete beginner to catching and turning on green waves, feeling completely confident in the lineup. I highly recommend his classes!

Alvaro is the best! - I've worked with Alvaro for about five weeks in total and my surfing has improved so much. He's a great instructor—super supportive, patient, and knowledgeable. He gives clear, tangible feedback that helped me learn so much, such as technique, positioning, or reading the waves better. He’s genuinely excited to see his students progress, which I really appreciated. You can tell he truly cares. I couldn’t recommend him more!
