I highly recommend it. - The Mandy Tours team was very organized throughout. Guide Brandon has a very good vibe, he is perceived to enjoy what he does. We ate delicious and very hearty. The island is beautiful, we went on Monday so we were told it was good day because it was quieter than on the weekend. During the tour we snorkeled, saw spider monkeys and even dolphins.

Great experience- would love more snorkeling ♥️ - Well organized, friendly and pleasant tour. If you want to to go Isla Tortuga this is the best way. We had 30 min to snorkel a great area near a tiny nearby island and then spent the day on IT which doesn’t have the best snorkeling due to low visibility from boat activity. Would be great if it could be possible to do a second round of snorkeling in the good area but otherwise this trip was perfect. The food and drink was much appreciated! Once you’re on the island you can rent a chair or pay for other activities. We saw lots of fish, birds, dolphins on the ride back and monkeys. Thanks for a good time!!

Detailed information from the tour - We had a fantastic experience with Mardy Tours. Our journey began at their marina in Puntarenas, called Muelle Turístico. Initially, we were scheduled to be picked up by boat at our hotel, Puerto Azul Hotel (a great place to stay), but due to the tide, they asked us to meet at the port instead. The port was only a few minutes away, and parking cost $15. We waited near the restrooms at the port until around 8:15 a.m. before boarding a medium-sized, comfortable boat that could accommodate about 30-40 people. The boat doesn’t have restrooms, so be sure to use them beforehand. The ride was fast and enjoyable, with stops along the way to Tortuga Island. Our first stop was to spot dolphins, and later we paused to see spider monkeys. After about an hour, we arrived at Tortuga Island. Those who didn’t want to snorkel stayed on the island, while the rest of us remained on the boat and headed to a nearby coral reef for about 30 minutes of snorkeling. The water was warm, and the marine life was stunning. Once we finished snorkeling, we joined the others on the island to relax. Chair rentals were available for $20 (for two chairs). The island also had a gift shop and several stands offering drinks, including fun options served in coconuts and pineapples. Lunch was served around 12:30 p.m. in a dedicated picnic area, featuring a traditional Costa Rican meal of rice, beans, salad, and meat. After lunch, we had more time to unwind on the beach before departing at 3:00 p.m. The return ride was quick and offered beautiful views. The guides were bilingual and very accommodating. Overall, we had an amazing time. I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect, so I hope this helps others planning a visit. Highly recommend Mardy Tours and this excursion!

Great! - Really great! The guides are great. Be careful though you have to speak Spanish or English. Diving trips are really nice. They also know the nice places to see animals (dolphins, monkeys, birds. The meal is great and they pay attention to food allergies. (Fish fillet is a delight, without any bones).

Tortuga Island Snorkeling with Zuma Tours from Montezuma - We had a very great experience from Montezuma to Tortuga Island for a snorkeling adventure with the Zuma tours. The Zuma tour staff is friendly, helpful, and experienced in this tour. On our boat ride out from Montezuma we stopped to see pilot whales and a couple of Humpback whales, then off to Tortuga Island for the snorkeling, again the boat crew was very helpful getting people in and out of the water. For me the sea life at the island was good, though visibility of the water was marginal on one side and decent on the other, no corral, just bare rocky bottom. The lunch on Tortuga island prepared by the crew was very good, and the ride back to Montezuma was smooth. Of note the Zuma boat is a decent size and in very clean and safe condition, definitely a quality boat. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Time coordination needs improvement - They told us to be there by 7:30 and we did but other people only arrived after 8:30. They need to improve their time coordination.

overcrowded, inaccurate, misleading & short changed on snorkeling time. - Our snorkeling was supposed to be 40 minutes to 1hr as listed in the description. Instead we got only 30 minutes. This doesn't sound like a big difference, but when you account for the 10 minutes of setup time and swim from the boat to the snorkeling site, it's probably effectively only 20 minutes of snorkeling instead of 30minutes o 50 minutes. There were literally 40 boats anchored off the beach, some with 20ft of the beach. There was a constant churn of incoming and departing boats leaving a constant smell of exhaust fumes. The "exclusive area for our clients" turned out to be a series dilapidated old benches squished into an area of other tours ramshackle "dining areas". Some were cordoned off by worn out shipping pallets. Molded tarps covered in leaves were the overhead shelter. Feral hogs roamed the perimeter of the food area scrounging for scraps. The kitchen staff threw food trimmings out back for the hogs to consume. Ground ants were everywhere and several of us were bitten just for putting our feet in the wrong place. "Unlimited soft drinks" turned out to be a 5 gallon insulated jug of iced tea available for 2hrs. When we landed on the beach at 1130, the person from Jade Tours didn't speak any English, so other than the location of the bathroom he couldn't provide any useful information. In fact, he directed us to sit at the dining table but didn't tell us anything else. We sat around for 20 minutes before realizing that we should just go to the beach. The bathroom was $1 per use and was just disgusting. The beach was way overcrowded. We had heard from some expats that the Tortuga beach has changed (not for the better) over the past 10 years with overbooking from tour agencies. From the viewpoint of sitting on the beach, if you did a 360 degree panorama photo, about 300 degrees of the photo would be covered by boats, or people on the beach. On the boat, the Mardy Tours guides told us there was hiking trails on the island. But we couldn't find where the trails where. The gift shop folks had no idea. The one place it looked like there could be a trail has cordoned off with signs warning that it was private property. On the plus side, -The staff was just awesome and enthusiastic -The boat was great. Clean and very fast. -Snorkeling was quite scenic, but too short
