• Rainbow Mountain Peru - Upon reaching the trailhead (approximately 4,600 m), begin the trek to Rainbow Mountain. The hike typically takes 1.5 hours to reach the summit, following a high-altitude trail through a valley with grazing alpacas and views of Ausangate’s glaciers. The guide will lead the way, maintaining a steady pace and assisting with the thin air. As you ascend, the colorful stripes on the mountainside become visible. At the summit, around 5,020 m (16,466 ft), take time to celebrate the achievement. At the top, enjoy panoramic views of the vibrant, multi-colored mountain and surrounding peaks – a true reward for the early start and challenging hike. Take your time at the summit for photos and rest. After enjoying the views, hike back down the same path to the trailhead, which takes about 1 hour to descend. If the hike is challenging, horseback rides can often be arranged on the spot for an additional fee (from 80 soles per person, can carry you most of the way).
• Cusipata - Once back at the base, enjoy a hearty lunch at a local roadside restaurant. After lunch, continue the journey by vehicle toward Cusco, heading northwest along the paved highway.
• Cusco - After a full day of adventure, the tour concludes in Cusco in the early evening. Expect to arrive around 6:00 to 7:00 pm. You’ll be dropped off at your hotel in Cusco, tired but filled with incredible memories.
