The excursion proceeds towards the island “Vanga” and the “White Villa,” the residence of former Yugoslavian president Josip Broz Tito. The island “Vanga” and the “White Villa,” where Tito hosted his esteemed guests, remain strictly protected sites, under vigilant state supervision and guarded by well-armed soldiers. This offers a unique opportunity to view the island Vanga and Tito’s residence exclusively from our boat.
- Ulysses Theatre - The journey continues towards the island “Mali Brijun,” the second largest of the Brijuni Islands. You’ll pass “Fort Brioni Minor,” the largest fort on the Adriatic coast, constructed in 1895 as part of the defensive perimeter surrounding Pula. Until 2001, the fort was under military protection, and since then, it has hosted the summer theater “Ulysses.”
- Kupelwieser’s Peace, Np Brijuni - This is one of several structures you’ll encounter during this cruise. The rich and varied architectural heritage reflects different historical eras. At the end of the 19th century, the island thrived with the arrival of Paul Kupelwieser, marking the beginning of Brijuni’s transformation. Thanks to Paul Kupelwieser, Brijuni became a hub for the aristocratic, cultural, scientific, industrial, and economic elite, transforming it into an exclusive summer resort.
- Brijuni National Park - “Veliki Brijun” is the largest, most stunning, and most frequented island of the Brijuni archipelago. This island exemplifies the perfect harmony between nature and human influence. Veliki Brijun is partially cultivated into a harmonious landscape of lawns and parks, and alongside its valuable architectural heritage, it boasts preserved vegetation typical of the western Istrian climate. Although open to the public, a portion of the island is managed by the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Croatia. Part of Veliki Brijun serves a special function, being used for the residential purposes of the President and Government of the Republic of Croatia.
- Hillfort (Gradina), NP Brijuni - This is a fortified settlement from the Bronze Age, featuring preserved walls, an entrance, and a necropolis. It is situated on a hill of the same name, north of the bay of Verige.
