Excellent tour via ISATOUREX - Excellent hike, guide, tour via ISATOUREX on Isabela. Flawless, interesting, scenic, healthy. On-time pick-up, bilingual Guide, great transport, very cool to hike through rainforest, down into volcano basin, and through active sulphur fields. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

A great experience made much better by our guide, Paola. - No matter how many photos you see of the Sierra Negra, seeing it in person is awe inspiring. Add to that the excellent historical facts shared by our guide, Paola, and this became a great adventure. I was also amazed at how Paola took the time to connect which each person in the tour with a joke here, a historical fact there, and one-on-one conversations to make the trip worthwhile. Do heed the instructions to carry lots of water and be ready for a long trek. We were lucky to visit in September and can't imagine how strenuous it is in the middle of summer (Paola does it every day!). Remember when you go downhill, an uphill is soon to come :)

I had to change the time of this tour due to another tour I had with them, but it all worked out great! - I originally had this and the Tintoreras tour scheduled with this agency, but when I was going to do the Tintoreras tour, the water was too rough and they offered to switch the times of the two tours, instead so I did the Sierra Negra tour the day before I intended to. This tour was amazing! The hike towards Sierra Negra wasn't too bad but the views of the caldera and the view of the north side of the island and Fernandina was great too! The guide I had was really knowledgeable and cool to talk to.

Great to see. Wouldn’t walk to Boca Chica though. - Great views after a steady incline walk to Sierra Negra. Totally walking was 9 miles. Didn’t really see the reward of walking to Boca Chica volcano versus the extra effort. Guides were good.

Unpleasant in the rain - This excursion involves a 10 mile hike up past the crater of a volcano to fields of lava rock. The landscape of lava is beautiful and very worth seeing. However, it was raining when we went, and the hike was unpleasant. Very muddy, slippery at times. And the crater views were not visible because of fog.

Rushed hike up the mountain! - Rushed hike up the mountain! The guide picked us up 45 minutes late, only after we called the tour office and reminded them we were waiting. The tour company also included a group that had to be back for the three pm boat. So leaving late and with a time constraint the guide rushed us up the trail. No time to describe the vegetation or wildlife. He quickly ran ahead with the group that had a 3 pm boat. We hiked at a normal pace and enjoyed the hike. Questionable why we paid for the guide. It was a fairly easy trail. Perhaps hire a taxi and do it on your own. Schedule a taxi to pick you up 4 to 5 hours later.

Guide was 3 hours late - The tour itself was nice, but the guide was 3 hours late - we tried calling the company, but were told to wait "a little longer". After a two hour wait they gave us two options: Go on the tour tomorrow, or wait another 30 min. for a new tour. We had tickets for the boat to Santa Cruz same day, so we chose waiting. After an hour our guide arrived. In all fairness, the guide we had tried his best to make up for lost time, but it felt a bit rushed.
