Highlights
  • Boca de Tomatlan - In this hike we will explore different hidden beaches following a Beach/Jungle trail

ABOUT:
We meet in Zona Romantica, old center of Puerto Vallarta. Here we take an urban transport just like the locals do!

After a pleasant 25 min ride along the coast we get off at a picturesque fisher town. Here we start our hike following the riverbank and ascent in the tropical forest with some amazing views!

A short 40 minute hike brings us to our first destination: Colomitos Beach, officially the smallest beach in Mexico! After a rest and pictures we continue our path and leave the many tourist behind us to explore more hidden beaches.

Here we have the opportunity to swim alone and feel in paradise. If the sea is calm, we will visit a secret place where to snorkel and observe a great diversity of fish!

After this refreshing break we continue to our final destination: ‘Playa las animas’. Here we can have an incredible local seafood plate. (Not included)

Last but not least we take the boat back to where we started the hike. Here we will see the bay from a total different perspective!

Amazing experience - This was a magical hike! We went to several unpopulated beaches on foot through a trail that was very challenging at times and beautiful. Our guide Alex was very nice and friendly and helpful. The restaurant at the end of the tour was delicious and the service was amazing. I would suggest however that the description include instructions to bring plenty of water, snacks, sturdy shoes for climbing rocky areas, hats towel, backpack and also mention level of difficulty of hike. Some people in our group were not prepared and had on flip flops etc which made it sorta unsafe for them . I ended up barefoot because my shoes were slippery and I had on Tevas sandals. Overall it was amazing and beautiful. I would highly recommend if you like to be outdoors in nature. The bus ride there was also fun, but if you get motion sick, skip it. There is also a water taxi involved. I would do it again however!!

Amazing experience - It was amazing, we knew a part of Puerto Vallarta that we did not know exists. I recommend a good breakfast and a snack. They can do the tour with sandals or water shoes. Our Guide was very friendly and we loved the tour.

Very nice hike and tour - Beautiful hike! A stop at the first beach, then more hiking along the ridge and we ended at a restaurant that was great. My friend and I enjoyed it a lot, Juan Carlos was an excellent guide who took good care of us. The hike was harder than I anticipated and I think people should know that. The snorkeling was also very basic, some rocks at the first beach where there were some fish. I wish the boat took us back to Puerto Vallarta at the end. The public bus was a bit crowded.

Beach Day Adventure for the win! - A great way to spend the day outside of Puerto Vallarta! Diego was an excellent guide and we got to see 6 different beaches. We even got to jump off a mini cliff! The hike is totally doable if you’re in shape or hike regularly but would be difficult for others. A fun and active adventure overall with great views!

Phenomenal experience! - Phenomenal experience! Diego was an excellent guide throughout our whole journey. You meet up in la Romantica zone and take a short bus trip to your first stop. You then get on a boat which takes you over to your first beach. The beaches were beautiful, and the weather was too. We were able to swim at four of the different beaches we saw on our hike. The hike itself was so much fun. There are a lot of steep inclines and some slippery rocks. The restaurant we went to at the end had really good food. The drinks came quickly and we had time to relax before getting on another short bus ride back to our meet up spot. I highly recommend this adventure!

Prepare for the hike - We booked this excursion thinking it was a boat trip. It is not. Prepare for hiking on jungle trails. Even though this was not what we expected, we enjoyed it very much. Good exercise. Would do it again for sure.

Challenging, but fun - The day was hot and humid as usual, but no rain. The meet up location was easy to find. 40 minutes to get to Boca de Tomatlan on a public bus, so it was hot and no air conditioning. Then a boat taxi from Boca to the first Beach. We did not stay in the first beach, but proceeded to the next one folowing the trail along the coast. We stayed at the second beach for about 45 minutes, having the chance to snorkel and leap from a rock. The trails vary in elevation so it can be a bit tough. Make sure to bring water; the Oxxo was a convenient place to buy water/snacks from. We continued to hike and enjoy the different beaches. The last stop was at playas Las Animas where we ate at a restaurant called Abelardos. The restaurant gave us cold towels to freshen up, and served great seafood. However, the trip going back was not so fun. Water taxi back to Boca de tomatlan, steep hike up to the bus stop, and miserably hot bus ride back to the meeting point. Props to the tour guide, Alex. He was awesome.
