Discovering Hidden Gems: A Geothermal Adventure in Puerto Vallarta
Seeking a break from the beach, I embarked on a geothermal adventure in Puerto Vallarta, discovering hidden gems and cultural richness along the way. Join me as I recount a day of relaxation and exploration.
A Journey Through the Heart of Puerto Vallarta
As I embarked on the Mexican Geothermal Soaking and Grill Experience in Puerto Vallarta, I was filled with anticipation. The promise of a day immersed in nature, away from the bustling beach scene, was exactly what I needed. Our journey began in a comfortable Ford Transit van, where our guide, Jose Antonio Garcia Rivas, shared stories of the region’s rich history. As we traveled through quaint farming villages, the narrow and bumpy mountain road led us to a hidden gem—a shaded oasis nestled under a mountain canopy.
The first stop was a small town where we visited a beautiful chapel and a tortilla factory. The aroma of freshly pressed tortillas was irresistible, and sampling one was a delightful prelude to the day’s adventure. We then selected vibrant, locally grown fruits and vegetables, which Jose would later transform into a feast for us.
Embracing the Serenity of the Hot Springs
Arriving at the springs park, we were greeted by the sight of 32 separate pools, each filled with warm, mineral-rich water. The park, developed by a cooperative of local families, offered a unique opportunity to connect with nature. Our group of nine was assigned two pools, where we could soak in the tranquility and enjoy the natural beauty surrounding us.
The experience was enhanced by a mineral mud mask, adding a touch of luxury to the day. As we relaxed in the warm waters, we were served fresh fruit and guacamole on grilled tortillas—a perfect blend of flavors that complemented the serene setting. The highlight of the meal was a family-style lunch featuring grilled vegetables, chicken, and beef, ensuring no one left hungry.
A Perfect Ending by the Beach
The day concluded with an hour-long massage on the beach, a fitting end to a day of relaxation and rejuvenation. The sound of the waves and the gentle sea breeze provided the perfect backdrop for unwinding. It was during this time that I realized I had misplaced my prescription glasses. However, Jose’s dedication to his guests shone through when he later found and returned them to me at my resort.
This experience was more than just a day trip; it was a journey into the heart of Puerto Vallarta’s natural beauty and cultural richness. The geothermal soaking and grill experience is a must for anyone seeking a deeper connection with the land and its people. I left with a renewed appreciation for the region and a promise to return.
