Just book it! - What an amazing experience! Probably one of the best excursions I’ve done- and I travel often. Our guide was great! He was courteous, knowledgeable, and a lot of fun. The hike to the zip lines does have some small rocky areas, so good soles on your water shoes is a must. I live in a mountainous region, so I hike often. For me, the hike was very easy but I can see how it would be difficult for others not used to hiking. The zip lines were really fun. I felt very safe. Siding down the water slides and jumping off the cliff was epic! I also felt very safe with our guides. They made safety a top priority. Then we went to the coffee plantation. Chocolate (our guides nickname) was so knowledgeable about all of the plants. Then we had an opportunity to see cigar rolling and do a little local shopping. The van we rode in was comfortable, clean, and had good AC. When you read the pickup information it will tell you to go out of the main gates of Amber Cove. That can be confusing because you go through several gates
just keep walking pasts all of the shops, out of the shopping center, past the buses and the parking lot, and then you will see the actual Main gates of amber cove. There will be a road there and that’s where the guides will be waiting. We got A little turned around at first but was able to find the location.

An Incredible Adventure! - This was an absolutely amazing experience! Chocolate, Andriw, and Brian were fantastic guides. We began with an air-conditioned ride to the National Park where we were given life jackets and helmets. They gave a safetly briefing and a description of the day, and the adventure began. The hike was about 40 min (several "5 Dominican minutes.") The terrain was rocky, but there were quite a few steps built in and that helped, and they took several breaks to rest. My husband has leg and ankle issues, and we were just very careful where he stepped and he did fine. Nobody pushes you to go any faster than you are able to. We reached the top and got our zipline harnesses on. At each station, I felt very safe. We did five ziplines and crossed two suspension bridges. After the ziplines, we began the waterfall part of the adventure. We did three natural rock slides down the waterfalls. For the fourth waterfall, we did a jump from a platform about 20 ft above the water. Not gonna lie - it was terrifying ... and exhilarating. Two pieces of advice: don’t chicken out and make sure you stay as straight as possible going in. My legs were at a slight angle, and I did hit the water harder than everyone else. I’d do the jump again, though and just make sure I stayed straight down. The views from the ziplines were breathtaking. The of the rivers and gorges we swam through were so peaceful. We enjoyed a Dominican lunch after the adventure, then Chocolate took us to a stop on the way back to the cruise port and learned about their coffee farming, how they make chocolate, how they roll cigars, and lots of the things native to the area. My suggestions for anyone doing this: water shoes are absolutely necessary. If you wear glasses and need to keep them on, get a good pair of glasses straps. Don’t rush yourself or others in your group. Stop and enjoy everything around you. And BUY THE PICTURES AND VIDEOS! They are absolutely worth it!

Perfect adventurous excursion for cruise travelors! - My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed this excursion and would do it again in a heartbeat! Edgar was our driver and Jonathan was our excursion guide. We also had Tony and Argento as our Zipline guides. They were all fantastic. - We were picked up at 8am and ended around 1:50. Make sure you eat breakfast before hand so you aren't hungry and tired. - The excursion pickup at Taino Bay was seamless - it takes about 15-20 minutes to walk from the ship through the port area to get to the exit for the pickup location. (We sailed Norwegian, but would look up which pickup location you're going to need) - The van was air conditioned and comfortable. The ride to the Zipline location was a little bumpy but it was not winding. - Size wise, we were in a small group of 6 total - this was great because the park definitely is popular. We also felt like our guide was able to keep track of us better. You'll likely join up with the cruise travelers and the Zipline guides will be shared across the larger combined groups. - You're able to leave your belongings in the van while on the activity, would recommend only keeping items on your physical person that can be secured or you wouldn't mind losing. - The hike to where the ziplining begins is quite strenuous. We're in our 20s and are relatively in decent shape and it's definitely lots of stairs. The path is shaded though which was great. Beware of falling mangos! - Would recommend water shoes unless you're ok with getting sneakers and socks wet. I don't think swim shorts are strictly necessary, a lot of people were in bikini bottoms and it seemed to be fine. - The ziplines were very fun! It ends with the waterfall park. The water was so refreshing after that hike, and it was really cool to get to go down the natural slides. There's also an 18ft jump into a deep pool; other options for that included a faster slide or going down the stairs. The experience is fantastic. Not for the faint of heart. My friend doesn't swim, and since we got life vests, it wasn't a problem. - The provided lunch was delicious! There is a gift shop and various wares + a fruit stand if you want to purchase a snack or knickknacks. - After the park and lunch, they took us to a plantation where they talked through making cigars, chocolate, coffee, and Dominican rum. There's a gift shop where they provide samples of the above + jewelry and souvenirs. Finally, on the drive back to the port, they took us through the town to point out local points of interest, which wasn't in the original itinerary but was great to learn. - The guide will take photos on a nice camera and videos. Purchasing photos is extra, so if you want photos and don't want to buy them, bring your phone in a waterproof pouch or a go-pro. - Booking through Viator rather than through the cruise excursions will save you a pretty decent chunk of cash, and you get the exact same experience at the park. - Be prepared with gratuities for both the park/Zipline guide as well as the overall excursion guide. Overall, 5/5 would definitely recommend!

Amazing Ziplining and waterfalls tour - We had an amazing time on our ziplining and waterfall tour w Werbe, Willy and Richard. We did the waterfall tour through the cruise ship in September, but this time we went w Dr Prime Tours and we got to do ziplining as well. We also got to a lunch and to watch locals rolling cigars. It was an amazing experience to be immersed in the Dominican Republic culture. We were also in a small ground of our family and 1 other family which made the experience that much better. We also got to go through the town by the cruise terminal at the end and see some fun sites. This is one of my favorite tours we’ve done so far. Werbe was amazing in taking care of us every step of the way. Willy was a great driver and got us to and from the you safely and quickly. And Richard is an awesome guide as well. I would HIGHLY recommend this company and tour!

We had an experience... - We had a magnificent experience, we enjoyed every minute of this excursion. Since we were picked up everyone was very friendly and attentive. William picked us up and we were very comfortable in the guagua, took us to the waterfalls and explained everything in detail. On the trek to the zip lines and waterfalls we were with Tony who gave the extra mile to please us and was explaining every detail, we were also with Robinson who was our paparazzi and I recommend that you add this service because he was in charge of photographing and recording every moment, every experience, and every request we had, even in the water where we did not think it was possible. My husband and I enjoyed it to the fullest! Then William took us to lunch and the food was excellent, Creole and varied food, very good. He also took us to see a local plantation place where we could learn a lot and try some things done there, all excellent. Finally we were able to take a walk through the center of Puerto Plata which is very picturesque and was a perfect end before returning to the boat as we were close. The perfect tour to make the most of the day.

Waterfalls and zip lines - this was awesome. I have been on excursions all over the world and this was one of the best. They are over staffed with guides who were there to help you every step of the way, literally holding your hand to pull you up, help you sit down, fan you, water you whatever. They had a good attitude and very funny. Jonathan and Fernando were our guides, they were great. It was not over crowded they picked us up a little ways down the street outside the cruise port just as described. We were in large NEW air-conditioning working van with 2 other people. Highly recommend this excursion.

Difficult but fun - Lots of walking and climbing. Pretty rough for my wife to make it through this. Also, I want the waterslides. I gotta a big bruise on my bottom. Maybe wear something thick on your bottom if you are skinny. so if you’re in good shape and like some adventure, this is a good one. Plan to get soaking wet.
