Puerto Maldonado - Amazon Lodge - Monkey Island - Night Activity

Puerto Maldonado - Upon arrival at the airport, bus station, or hotel in Puerto Maldonado, guests will be greeted and transferred to our office. From there, they will depart for the river port to board a boat that will take them on a 40-minute journey along the Madre de Dios River to our lodge. A warm welcome awaits with a refreshing local fruit juice, and guests will be introduced to the lodge’s facilities and accommodations.

After lunch, guests will embark on a boat trip to visit Monkey Island, where they will have the opportunity to observe monkey families. By walking and calling out to them, guests may attract monkeys with pieces of bananas or other fruits not native to the island.

In the evening, guests will return to the lodge for a caiman-spotting adventure on the river, followed by dinner back at the lodge.

Tambopata National Reserve - The Tambopata National Reserve is an ideal destination for those who love nature and adventure. Guests will be accompanied by a knowledgeable local guide who will provide insights into the wildlife, flora, and fauna of this remarkable area.

The Sandoval Lake Full Jungle Exploring

Lago Sandoval - After breakfast, guests will head to the Tambopata National Reserve for a 5 km walk through the lush tropical jungle to reach Sandoval Lake, one of the largest lakes in the reserve. The lake offers breathtaking views and is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts, especially bird watchers, with frequent sightings of two or three monkey species. A typical regional lunch will be served, followed by a rowing boat ride to observe the diverse birdlife and various monkey species, including shanshos, cormorants, puma herons, howler monkeys, squirrel monkeys, black capuchin monkeys, tamarin monkeys, and sloths. With some luck, guests may encounter a family of giant otters (nearly two meters long) and the largest recorded caiman, measuring over 4 meters in length.

Guests will return to the lodge in the afternoon and then proceed back to Puerto Maldonado for drop-off at the airport, bus station, or hotel.
