Lago Sandoval - Meet the guide at the Plaza de Armas in Puerto Maldonado before traveling to the lodge, just a 25-minute journey. Along the way, pass through a small local community where parrots and macaws are often seen.

Once settled into the riverside room with views of the Tambopata River, take a short break before embarking on a 1-hour introductory jungle walk with a knowledgeable local guide. Discover ancient trees over 500 years old and observe wildlife such as toucans, oropendolas, monkeys, parrots, butterflies, and more.

After a delightful Amazonian lunch, set out at 3:30 pm for a peaceful boat ride along the Tambopata River to enjoy the sunset. From comfortable panoramic seats, look for sloths and tropical birds. As night descends, use flashlights to spot wildlife along the riverbank—white caimans, herons, and with a 90% chance, capybaras, the world’s largest rodent.
