Magical experience! - We had a great time on this tour hunting white bioluminescence. Our pick up was on time, the minibus was very comfortable and our driver, Johnny was great. The boat trip to the blackout tents was lovely and the white bioluminescence sparked off our skin like millions of tiny diamonds. Unforgettable!

Shine for yourself - It is a very nice experience to see how you will emanate lights from your body when you are submerged in water and moving
The minutes you stay in the water are amazing

A very unique way to spend an evening! - This was such a fun and unique experience! The boat ride under the stars was spectacular and the phosphorssence was amazing. Our guides shared lots of stories and information and they made it easy and not at all scary to swim at night!

Once in a lifetime experience! - What a great experience. The extra cost to book the tour through Trip Advisor was worth it. We were picked up at our Airbnb in an air conditioned van and drove past all the lines, went straight to our boat, and learned so much about these fascinating creatures. We were even able to swim with them. 5 stars!

Bioluminescence in Laguna Manialtepec, Oaxaca - I had seen videos and photos of the so-called "bioluminescence" effect, so I was expecting to see practically the water shine. Spoiler's fin: it wasn't.
To start, this tour was offered at the Hotel Making Real Puerto Escondido (see hotel review), at a cost of 890.00 Pesos per Person. We thought we could find it cheaper somewhere else. In Playa Carrizalillo we found it at 800 pesos, and finally we hired it at a cost of 600 pesos with a local that we found on Blvd Benito Juarez.
The dynamics with the three options are the same: they pass you to the hotel where you are staying and take you to the place where the dive takes place.
Bioluminescence is best seen in photos and videos: in real life it is not like in Avatar. Supposedly the effect we had to see was white, but to do so, we had to move so that the water reacted, and gave off opaque white tones.
My feeling at the time, and so far, was disappointment, but bad, good (or less bad): I was disappointed with 600 pesos and not with almost 900.

First timers - The staff were really friendly, however our expectations were different than reality. The ride there was long and I am not sure it was worth it. The water was warm and when moved there was some bioluminescence. We were expecting more. The van was very well air conditioned, maybe too much for having been wet in the night time

Don’t book - Tour operator sent us a message the morning of the tour changing location (OK, we understand that can happen) and then informing us there was no English speaking guide available because the English speaking guide was drunk.

Be sure to contact the tour operator beforehand - For starters, I did book this tour with Roberts Ecotours (BR-1093699453). I had posted that the tour was average, but to be truthful, the tour operator changed the time at the last minute and it doesn’t say that we needed to bring a towel. When we tried to contact the operator he was disrespectful and didn’t believe that we were at the meeting point and “demanded” my location. They even sent us with another tour group operator.
