Due to the rocky shoreline where the prince wanted to build, he ordered extensive blasting to level the ground, earning him the nickname Prince “Turbascogli” (“Rocktroubler”).

- Villa Pliniana - Built in 1573 around the spring of the same name, Villa Pliniana draws its name from the famous Como-born naturalists Pliny the Elder and Pliny the Younger, who first described the spring’s unique intermittence in the first century A.D.
- Orrido Di Nesso - Nesso, one of Lake Como’s most picturesque villages, is located roughly halfway between Como and Bellagio. Its signature feature is the Orrido, a waterfall that creates a romantic setting on the lake.
- Cernobbio - Villa d’Este, a stunning example of 16th-century architecture, is now a luxurious five-star hotel, considered one of Italy’s finest. Originally built in the late 1500s, it was transformed into a hotel by the late 1800s.
- Villa Le Fontanelle - Constructed in the 19th century in a neoclassical style by the eccentric Lord Charles Currie, Villa Fontanelle was purchased in 1977 by Italian designer Gianni Versace, who restored it to its neoclassical splendor. The restoration, completed in December 1980, included expansive ornamental gardens, three cottages, a tennis court, and an 800-meter lakefront façade. Following Versace’s passing, the property was sold to Russian millionaire restaurateur Arkady Novikov for 33 million euros.
