2. Haumont-près-Samogneux
The “Bois des Caures” is where the Colonel Driant command post was. The wood is scarred with shell holes, a mystic place of the opening day of the battle of Verdun.
3. Ouvrage de Froideterre (Froideterre Fort)
One of the fort defending Verdun, it was heavily shelled but it remained in French hands despite numerous German assaults.
4. Douaumont Ossuary
It’s probably one of the most sacred place in France: the remains of 140.000 unknown French and German soldiers are buried there and in the cemetery beside rest in peace 16.000 French soldiers.

6. Fleury-devant-Douaumont
The village of Fleury-devant-Douaumont was completely destroyed and never rebuilt
