Antigua - Ran Tzul

Purulha - Ram Tzul is a Private Natural Reserve and Eco-Hotel that was born, more than two decades ago, from the desire to have a place of rest and communication with my family. I managed a tourist property in the Biotopo area and fell in love with the place. One day walking through the virgin mountain forests with my son Gerardo Abel, founder of the reserve, we discovered a beautiful hidden waterfall, protected by its difficult access and enriched by a magical legend. It immediately captivated our spirit and heart and we identified with it. We decided to preserve the majesty of that beautiful place, share nature and protect the life that flowed there among forests, orchids, flora, and fauna to turn it into “A SANCTUARY DEDICATED TO THE UNIVERSE, NATURE, AND MAN”.

Ran Tzul - Biotopo del Quetzal - Lanquín

Biotopo del Quetzal - The Quetzal Biotope is located in the town of Purulhá, in Baja Verapaz. It has an area of 1,044 hectares and was officially established as a protected area on June 2, 1976, by founder Mario Dary Rivera, with the main objective of protecting the quetzal and its habitat, the cloud forest.

Flores - Yaxha - Flores

Yaxha - This morning depart to the Mayan archaeological site of Yaxhá and Topoxte with a boat ride on the same lagoon. At the end of the day, departure to Isla Flores.

Topoxte Archaeological Site - Topoxté is a pre-Columbian Maya archaeological site located in El Petén, northern Guatemala. The site has a long history of occupation dating back to the Middle Preclassic period and was the political capital of the Ko’woj Maya, and one of the largest (in size) Postclassic Maya cities in the region. Topoxté is located on an island in the Yaxhá Lagoon, very close to the important archaeological site of Yaxhá.

Topoxté received its name from archaeologist and Mayanist Teobert Maler, in 1904;3 from its meaning in the Mayan language “seed of the Ramón tree”. There is no previous record of this name, being an important forage tree for the Maya because of the frequent use of its leaves and seeds as a food supplement.3 Prior to this denomination, the site was known as Islapag, according to Juan Galindo in 1831 in a scientific report.

It is said that this site was inhabited by people of very short stature since the size of the structures is extremely low for a person of average height.

Excellent everything - I contacted the agency, they advised me perfectly and put together a tailored plan for me. Héctor was present at all times via WhatsApp to advise me, tell me what to bring, where to go, what time they picked me up, etc. The hotels, meals and transfers were all perfect. At one point there was a small confusion with a reservation and they solved it instantly so the truth is, highly recommended

Mayan Highlights - I went on the 8 days, 7 nights tour and the transportation, hotels and guides provided met my expectations. I was looked after very well by the guides and even though I was traveling alone, I felt safe at all times. The tour covered the major Mayan sites and even though it was quite tiring moving from place to place and changing hotels daily, I felt it was extensive enough for me to see all the major highlights. The guided tours mainly took place in the first half of the day and the rest of the day was for me to explore each place on my own so it had a good mix of tour and alone time.

Guatemala is a dream - I have been to Guatemala countless times. I have also been to these places one or more times. However, this trip was only to really SEE and FEEL my father's country. On previous visits to Lake Atitlán, Tikal and Antigua, I visited and saw them, but I didn't really understand the cultural importance of these places because the visits were so quick and brief. GTM Travel listened to our needs and took care of us the entire way. There were one or two problems with the hotel and flight, but they were not in the GTM part. Overall, this was a fabulous trip, all of our guides (Cesar in Petén/TIkal, Brenda in Lake Atitlán and Estuardo in Antigua) were exceptionally knowledgeable and generous with their wisdom and time, so they come HIGHLY recommended. I also want to mention our drivers who transported us from various airports/locations, José Luis, Luis, Rubén and our last driver who picked us up in Antigua and gave us a nice driving tour of Guatemala City. They were all fantastic and courteous and we highly recommend them as well. Special thanks to Cesear and Brenda who pointed us to great restaurants in Petén and San Juan La Laguna, as well as Estuardo for showing us the beautiful Santo Domingo hotel and museum where we went for our final dinner in Antigua. It was just amazing! If it weren't for Hector from GTM Tours, who coordinated this somewhat complicated trip for us, we would have been in a crazy state of confusion and probably would have spent a lot more money trying to do it ourselves. Everything went well, we were extremely busy, happy and amazed by everything we experienced with GTM. Even late at night, GTM Tours was extremely helpful and hospitable. GTM Tours is HIGHLY recommended by us.
