Fun experience - Very entertaining and fun experience! It was our first time taking a cooking class and it was beyond our expectations. The chef was patient and knowledgeable. The food was amazing!! All the hosts were extremely kind and helpful, they even organized a free pickup and return to our hotel. The class and eating lasted about 2h (not 3h as written), but for us, that was enough. The only thing we missed was the promised srilankan coctail/beer - we got tea. We recommend it, it doesn’t matter if you are amazing at cooking or an amateur:D you will have fun!

Experience beyond expectations - She became addicted to making Sri Lankan curry in Japan and chose a cooking class on a trip to Sri Lanka to get an authentic taste. For example, sambol is pronounced as sambal in Japanese recipes, and it was a cooking class with many discoveries. He also explained the relationship between Ayurveda and ingredients, which gave me a deep understanding of Sri Lankan culture. An optional massage is also great. Impressive. So it was a very satisfying experience.

Do it! - This was such a great cooking experience. The kitchen was outdoors and had a wood burner stove. The 8 dishes I made were all incredible. The tastes and flavors were a dream. I also got a tour of the spice garden, as they grow all of their produce on their land and it is organic.

Great cooking experience but expensive - Communication from the Kandy Spice Walk 101 was very good. Asked about dietary requirements. You can choose the time you want the class. Manju was a wonderful host - explained things in excellent English and was very welcoming. Neela, the cook who gave the class, was amazing - organised, involved us and was charming. We cooked 7 dishes - all delicious - so much food! We paid $15 dollars extra for ‘the village market visit’- we walked down to the local vegetable stall and back - underwhelming. We walked through a spice garden with explanations - good. The cooking class was thoroughly enjoyable - great space, good ingredients. After the meal, we were encouraged to buy some herbal medicines - expensive but they weren’t pushy. Safely seen to our return tuktuk. Really great food and cooking experience but expensive. (Don’t do the village market extra).

Great experience - The cooking experience was excellent. Neela was very helpful, explained everything well and helped us produce a fabulous meal. We paid extra for the market which involved walking down the hill to the corner fruit and veg stall for a few items so that part was disappointing. Cooking outdoors with traditional cooking methods was a great experience. Pick up was organised easily and communication was great. You can nominate what time you want to do the class. We opted for 5pm and received a message that the tuk tuk was on it's way just before 5. Organised and payment sorted. On arrival we walked to the shop then we're given a short tour and talk about the village and medicinal uses of the Ayurveda school and products they grow for medicine. We were then taken to the small kitchen, introduced to the chef and provided with aprons and cup of tea. There were 2 of us which was comfortable in the space. Cooking was fun, easy and hands-on. Amazing that 7 dishes could be cooked within an hour. We sat down to eat and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Throughout the process Manju introduced us, explained the process, took several photos and spoke to us while we ate. There was the usual encouragement to purchase products (very expensive) and do a review on the spot as well as to have a massage afterwards. Recipes and photos were sent to us via WhatsApp and we were safely seen into a tuk tuk at the end, via the shop. All in all it was a great experience and we enjoyed learning to cook the various dishes and eating them. It was very expensive for what it was and l don't recommend including the village market as it really didn't exist (nor did a cocktail or beer).
