Additional Information

Part of West Java, Banten is a burgeoning province. The government maintains Baduy, an area within it, due to its unique tribe. Originally known as the Kenekes people, their isolation dates back to the mid-1500s. Through the era of Muslim rule or the Sultanate of Banten, and the colonial period, they’ve preserved their culture, warding off outsiders. They’re also known as ‘Sunda wiwitan’.

Prominent features: the people abstain from using sandals and vehicles; they walk wherever they need to go. Their homes are made from bamboo and wooden rope, without any electricity. They live traditionally, untouched by modernisms, and the government ensures this preservation. Equally, the people cherish their culture and strive for its continuity through generations.
While in Baduy, visitors can explore the villages and homes, and interact with the locals through a representative guide.

A nice experience in Baduy - Overall, I recommend this trip plan to trekking-lover, especially the solo traveller, since the traveller can be accompanied with the tour guide and indigenous guide. And more importantly, we can explore indigenous culture and enjoy the harmony of local community and nature conservation My tour guide Haidar is nice and patient. He helps me take a lot of photos to make my trip more enjoyable.

Hidden Village Badui - I finally got to visit the village of Badui, where I had a strong sense of unfinished business in Indonesia, where I spent four years four years ago. I love the hidden villages where the strange Sundanese people live, the clean and constantly updated living spaces that have inherited history, and the purity that lies in the simplicity. I was impressed.

One memorable trip that lasts the whole day! - This was truly an amazing "Quest" and I say that because you are going on a journey, whether or not you realize it. Baduy is in the jungle! So you'll need to trek through the jungle, going village to village, in the area that the tourists are allowed to go-- there is another area but you're not allowed in it if the Chief doesn't invite you. Along the way, you can guy things from the local merchants so it's a good time to get authentic Black Honey and Baduy Batik clothing. You'll ultimately land at two really beautiful locations that will let you see Baduy engineering at its finest and also if your body can take the weather and hike, you will get to the top of a mountain to reach the "hidden lake" where there is a peaceful resting spot at the water, the relax and catch a breeze. Now, if you did this tour, you should look for the version that allows you to see a very special show at the end of the hike, and end of the day. This one is beyond amazing and beautiful was you have have a unique show only for your party, with music, song and dance and if you may even be included in the show if you have the personality for it. If I were you, I'd call the tour owner and make sure that you have the right option for the tour to get that show because you'd be missing out on a truly unique experience you'll see nowhere else. If you're a true traveler, who likes to learn about cultures and people wherever you go, you definitely have to do this and eat the local cuisine while at it. I was exhausted at the end of the day, but 100% pleased and it was worth the money and the journey. Thank you to my guide, Saleh, the best guide around and to Ferdy for exposing this who experience to me. Call Ferdy and make sure you arrange this properly.

Super trip an excellent day out - During the trip we saw exotic scenery, but after being in a very different village during the trip, we felt calm without the exhaust noise and concrete that squeezes in the city. At night, we think it's quite dark because there won't be any bright light from electricity. we experienced a special moment, accompanied only by the ancient and exotic civilization of this indigenous community. we could feel the serenity when we were in a village filled with craftsmen who were skilled at weaving, as if we were in the middle of a giant bamboo garden. Or you can frolic among the mossy rocks that emphasize the existence of the old village. Our guide as super, Driver excellent, Food is Ok.

Extraordinary tour and was Excellent day out - Some very important tour have occurred in West Java, I wasn’t sure I was in somewhere far from the city, seeing so many differences with big cities, and the most important thing was the character of those which is different thinking and still maintaining extraordinary nature , and my guide was amazing in explaining what happened here by taking me to the forest hills where they live.

Best of time with village adventure - A day to remember in Indonesia . The Baduy villages are a unique experience .Here you can see how locals live in a very traditional and simple life. On the outer Baduy area you can meet people from the inner tribe. Trekking along the villages in the rain was a bit challenging at times (take non slippery shoes).

Beautiful remote village - We enjoyed visiting the Baduy Villages and watching the woman weave the beautiful textiles and grind the rice. We sampled local fruit and visited one of the local huts. We also enjoyed the children and how excited they were to see us and take pictures. The village is remote and is an easy hike between each village. It is a little more challenging if it is rainy season due to rain, mud and slippery rocks. (Part of the adventure) Ferdy and Anton were a great guide and driver explaining the history and traditions of the Baduy tribal villages. This is a long day with a 3 hour drive from Jakarta however the landscape and villages are great to see.
