Highlights
  • Imjingak Pyeonghwa Nuri Park - Be sure to take in the breathtaking views, including the wooden boardwalk along the picturesque lake.

The official name of the bridge is “Gloucester Heroes Bridge,” dedicated to the 1st Battalion Gloucester Regiment of the U.K. These 652 soldiers were surrounded by approximately 42,000 Chinese soldiers but courageously delayed the Chinese advance southward for four days during the Korean War.

Visit the 3rd infiltration tunnel, which could allow 30,000 armed North Korean soldiers to pass through within an hour. From the Dora Observatory, you can observe the North Korean city of Gaesung. Also, visit the unification village within the civilian-controlled area.

Explore Imjingak Park and the Memorial Hall, which allows displaced people whose hometowns are in North Korea to bow to their parents or family in North Korea as a sign of respect during cultural events such as New Year’s and Chuseok (the Korean Mid-Autumn Festival, which usually involves paying respect to elders and ancestors). This memorial holds many sorrowful memories of families separated during the Korean War.
